BRANDING ALERT!
For several years I have provided perfect branding to many Cardinal players and executives, to explain and capture the key to understanding the role each played.
Super Slo Mo
The Paper Tyler
Lars The Human Sushi-baar
The Poser
WoeBegone
The Baseball Clown
The Marmot
Jack Patches
Yad-"I" (only late in his career)
Toxic Twins
The Unicorn
Others.
After watching yesterday's game, and a certain high arcing, slow arriving throw to second base, it is time to reveal another.
But first, a choice must be made between 2 worthy appellations.
And so, for the first time, I will put it to a vote before the final determination.
Shall it be Eephus Herrera?
Or Hail Mary Herrera?
I am leaning toward the latter but will consider the ballot returns before applying the perfect branding.

None of your nicknames are even remotely clever, yet you somehow think they are that and even ingenious.
It's the narcissistic personality. Vaulted feelings about oneself to hide insecurities. Visions of grandeur.
Again, seek help.

The only brand you should be thinking about is Thorazine.

Re: BRANDING ALERT!
The Paper Tyler was pretty good. It's both a play on paper tiger:
But it also describes his fragility, as if he's made of paper.pa·per ti·ger
/ˌpāpər ˈtīɡər/
noun
a person or thing that appears threatening but is ineffectual.
I also feel like Yad-I is pretty accurate for Molina's attitude his last few seasons (and I say that as a person who was a huge Yadi fan until his attitude became grating me at the end of his career)
Re: BRANDING ALERT!
The O'Neill one is dumb as it gets. Nicknames should be short and snappy. They should come out of the mouth easier, or at least as easy, as the person's actual name. No one would call him that out loud to friends and be able to expect them to understand the reference.Mr Nice Guy wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 09:45 amThe Paper Tyler was pretty good. It's why for that player, I liked O'Kneill. Doesn't really affect the pronunciation but it's a subtle change that accurately describes something about the player.
Yad-I is ok I guess, if you would actually say it that way out loud. Laughed at ME-ville describing someone else as selfish though.
Several of them on the list are so generic that it wouldn't be possible for someone not privy to the conversation to understand who was being talked about. That makes an inside joke, maybe, but not a nickname.

I’m sure in his role of “intelligent communicator and effective educator” his ability to utilize cutesy nicknames is effective.sdaltons wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 09:21 amYessir.
