McGreevy 3/28 start in Memphis

Post by cards53 »

I don’t know what other viewers thought of this opening day start.
I went back and looked at it on milb.tv and my opinion:

He didn’t look like the same pitcher as I was able to see on the limited ST video.
His mechanics were a little out of whack in his finishing position.
He threw more non-competitive pitches than in ST.
His arm slot wasn’t as ‘grooved’.

I’m going to attribute this partially to his disappointment in being sent down.
After his strong finish in 2024 and great ST 2025, I can see why.

I am hoping this was a one off start and we will see a much better version next start.
His line was 4.0 IP, 6H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 2 HR, 70 pitches, 46 strikes
The 3 run homer in the 4th blew up his stat line.

How he handles adversity will be as watched as his pitching.

should it be though? Morale is a very real thing. I wouldn't deliver bad news to my employees and then expect them to immediately perform at their very best. They are human after all.
