Bolduc's "physical play"
Unless they're a top-5 pick, I don't follow players much until they're with the NHL team. Between his cross check to a player on the ice and that gangbang drive by he put on Lindgren today, the kid has a dirty side I was unaware of.
Does he have a history of these types of plays in the minors/juniors?

Neither of those were dirty. What Nashville tried to do to Thomas was though.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025 18:44 pm Unless they're a top-5 pick, I don't follow players much until they're with the NHL team. Re: Bolduc's "physical play"
I don't know of his history, but it seems that Neighbours has rubbed off on him. Neighbours found out what it took to stay with the Blues, be physical and go in the dirty areas. It seems Bolduc is doing the same.
Re: Bolduc's "physical play"
The second cross check cost him $2500. Let's be honest, it was dirty. Do I mind it? Hell No! Just like they said on the radio, take up a collection in the room for it.ZouMiz2424 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025 19:02 pmNeither of those were dirty. It was on the padded pants of the Nashville player. If he was dirty he would have went lower backTAFKAP wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025 19:41 pmThe second cross check cost him $2500. No. In fact, his reputation in Jrs was the opposite. He was a kitty cat. Lots of skill but shied away from the rough stuff. Was a force in the regular season but was much less effective in the playoffs when the checking increased.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025 18:44 pm Unless they're a top-5 pick, I don't follow players much until they're with the NHL team. So I’m not sure what got into him or who got in his head but he’s turned probably his biggest weakness into now a strength. He’s been borderline dirty out there and I’m loving the passion from him.
That borderline play we had from Sunny, Barbashev and others in 2019 has been sorely missed. Bolduc is one guy bringing it back. Love to see it.
Re: Bolduc's "physical play"
Maybe he’s channeling his inner Lapperiere. That would be lovely

Bolduc, unlike a lot of first round picks, "gets it".

I love the borderline dirty play…it’s much needed. When players are willing to straddle that line it means they will do anything to win.

Not knowing what a guy will do or how he will respond is currency yup.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025 20:07 pm I love the borderline dirty play…it’s much needed. When players are willing to straddle that line it means they will do anything to win.

Against the Moosehead's in the QMJHL final his last year he had no issue throwing a crosscheck or the odd big hit. Definitely had some edge to him. No clue how often he played that way.

Absolutely agree. Didn't we have like 2 or 3 suspensions en route to the finals. You need a few guys who are able to walk that fine line. I've thoroughly enjoyed seeing Bolduc develop that side. Holloway too (though his hits dont even seem questionable).STL fan in MN wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025 19:53 pmNo. In fact, his reputation in Jrs was the opposite. He was a kitty cat. Re: Bolduc's "physical play"
Ok, lets spend the day arguing about this. I'm game. He crosschecked a player flat on the ice, twice. it's going to get called. it's a play that leads to injury and is reckless. That makes it dirty. He has no history so it's just a fine. Multiple others here have said it was dirty, why not argue with them as well. Joey Vitale mentioned on the broadcast that they would probably have to take up a collection to cover the fine, it was dirty, but he didn't mind it, take it up with him. He was penalized and fined. It was dirty. Now tell me I'm wrong and I don't know anything about hockey, your turn.ZouMiz2424 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025 19:47 pmIt was on the padded pants of the Nashville player. It was early in the season, when we had a glut of “potential” and it was uncertain if Bolduc would even stay with the team. He was getting scratched, due to the glut of new and promising faces. He used that time to work hard on playing away from the puck, mastering safe and steady ways to headman the puck North ( he needed work, there), and to beef up the physical side of his play.
I have said it for a good while, Bolduc is the poster boy for how to break in to the NHL.
Re: Bolduc's "physical play"
He's still not drawing top-6 minutes on the 3rd line, he has more to give when the Blues need to tap it. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him net 30 but the top-6 on this team is crowded. Should draw more consistent PP time next season and he'll have a more offensively skilled center at 5v5 once DD gets established. Good fantasy league buy.Harry York 37 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025 22:57 pmRight on.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025 19:53 pmNo. In fact, his reputation in Jrs was the opposite. He was a kitty cat. I love the kid’s game. For him to continue playing this style game he needs to take some pugilistic training this offseason. He needs to be able to defend himself (ala Shanny) when he is called out for a “big” hit. You know how every big hit is met with someone jumping the hitter which is so stupid.theograce wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025 20:09 pmNot knowing what a guy will do or how he will respond is currency yup.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025 20:07 pm I love the borderline dirty play…it’s much needed.
