I was able to get on the site with both, & writing to you now on the iPhone. I hope you’re doing well as possible. Take care of yourself.

When I try to come to this site on my phone now it freezes. Says Im having connectivity problems but it will go to FB and Youtube and every other site on the net no problem. It just started it the other day out of the blue after I had connected to the site multiple times that day. Anybody got any ideas whats happening?

I've had problems just like that in the past. I chalk it up to routing issues on the network, in my case ATT. Just a theory, but sometimes they upgrade equipment and things change a bit for remote connections.

Does it work on your phone when connected to wifi and not work on your phone when using cell towers (wifi off)?

I just disconnected from the Wi-Fi and it went right in. The problem must be in the router or tower or something. That was a good idea that I didn't think about ....Thanks for the tip danno!

OT to this topic. This site has other disincentives to use it, but it's one of the regular places where something might pop up related to the interest so it gets monitored by lurkers. In that sense, I just wanted to say I'm very happy you have come through your health struggle.

OT: but kind of on topic:

During 2019 Parade - my phone service was overloaded - and I had a dozen unsent messages that I was never able to fix. Still to this day (same phone) I have a notification that pops up telling me I have unsent messages.

Just wanted to let you know because you said you experienced the same issue sometimes. It's my VPN. Turns out the PD blacklisted the city my VPN was coming from due to suspicious/malicious traffic coming from that site. When I changed city's it worked fine. Might help next time you have a problem getting in.

Stick, may I inquire as to which VPN program you are using? Please feel free to reply in a PM.

It's happened to me on occasion, and what worked (assuming you have a subscription to the PD), is calling the PD and having them "refresh" your subscription. Immediately was able to reach the site on my phone. Apparently, the site "thought" my subscription had lapsed.

:) I hate to blame you for suffering from "magical thinking"... Maybe "category mistake"... Let's clarify.

Your access/status to the main website is completely unrelated to your access to the forums, they are two different "sites."

The main content is over on www.stltoday.com, the forums live on interact.stltoday.com.

1) Subscriber access isn't tracked by the forums.
2) Being a subscriber to the PD means completely, absolutely, totally, NOTHING to do with the forums.
3) The customer service folks you talked to don't work, nor have anything to do with the forums.
4) the only tie-in between the main website and the forums is the main site tracks your password, username, and email address.

Hope the clears things up.

Thank you for posting that. I DID believe I needed to maintain a PD subscription to access this forum. I will not jump out and cancel but it's nice to know I can.

We don't tie your subscription to your access to the forums for a simple reason:

What do we do with a subscriber who gets banned?

We're not going to try to figure out what part of your subscription is forum access, it's better to keep the two things separate.
This concept has been used to cut banned trolls of at the knees when they insist they can't be banned... They're a subscriber!!!

Your subscription pays for our newsroom and journalists, and we are deeply grateful for your support.

Let's keep the mosh-pit, bog-of-despair, that is the forums, safely quarantined over here.

I can confirm I've never had a subscription to the PD and I've been coming in here for 15 years or so. The problems I had are NOT subscription related.
