Faulk has his +/- down to -3

Post by hockey jedi »

I think it's been as high as -14. He's been playing well lately. His production is down, but he's still an offensive threat. I'm happy for him. He's been a whipping boy on this forum, and he deserved some criticism.

He's been good.

Tbh outside of last year and his 1st hear here (where he was playing his offside or on the 3rd pair) he has been good.

Our D is just so much better this year.

We have 5 legit top 4 dmen, you could argue 6 with Suter, and Faulk is benefitting from that.

My feelings for Faulk are nothing personal. As an eternal pragmatist, I try to never hold a grudge in any aspect of life, and especially not for a guy I've never met. He has been and can be exceptional at times. But there is no defenseman on this team I'd rather see on the bench when the game is on the line. Blues haven't been excelling because of Faulk; they've been doing it in spite of him.

Don't know if it's laziness, stupidity, brain damage from concussions or what, but he makes far too many bad decisions with the puck. Almost all of our D are giving master classes on how to circle back and move the puck to the weak side with deception in order to create time and space.

Faulk's the exception. He keeps trying to force the puck when there's no play there and it has cost us many goals against. That's not to say he doesn't make a lot of good plays. But man we need Parayko back asap to minimize the amount of chances Justin can Faulk things up.

He's playing his best hockey of the year right now but it's still not what it should be.

I'd also much prefer to let Broberg get more of his pp time. Blues seem very stubborn on this likely a "vet experience" thing but Broberg has a great shot that gets through at a higher rate.

Good point. I noticed at least two no-look backhand drop passes across the slot trying to breakout last night. In a close game, those will KILL you. Both times he was skating into coverage and just flung the puck across the slot - once behind Broberg and putting him in a precarious spot along the boards and in traffic. Thank God it was Nashville...

I feel like, yes this is the best he has been, however I feel the guys around him are picking him up and carrying him. Broberg a back must be so sore from carrying him.

He is a giveaway machine and we all know it. He does it at inopportune times and if he wasn’t on the power play or constantly playing with the top two lines he would be our defensive Saad.

Tell me I’m wrong, but his teammates are making him look better.
