My 2025 Cardinal Vegas bets

Post by imetsatchelpaige »

Anyone here recall when I first started doing this in 2006? That was a big payout, a very long bet made when were hobbled, and sucking dust in early August. (Btw, this is al the betting I do in a year). Everyone on the board thought I was certifiable when I predicted we would win the WS. I am not making that prediction this year.

But...
* A friend in Vegas found +1200 odds at BetRivers to win the NL Central, which I jumped on. Mediocre division, pitching could surprise, etc. My $100 would return $1300.
* The odds to win the NL Pennant are +6000. I put the liklihood of this at around 1 in a 100. But God hates a coward. $20 bet would return $1220.
*The odds to win the WS are +12,500. This would take Jesus coming back and lightning striking Mo down the field during introductions, but you know. Cardinal fan. My $10 would return $1260.

So, if it all actually happened, I would be up $3650.00. I will hereby commit $1650.00 in imaginary $ to an open bar at a home game of my choice in the 2026 season for the first (and probably last) "Come of the CardsTalk Closet Night."

(And no Joel/Shady/Kentucky Kid, this does not mean you can bring your dolls).

+1200 to win the NLC looks like a good bet.

ActionNetwork offers a best bet for the Cards: Saggese +3000 to win Rookie of the Year. Why not?

They have interesting props on all other teams as well.

Because he is at AAA? What is the game or AB level for ROY consideration?

More evidence that no one ever clicks through. Surprise, they know where he's playing.
Saggese, who debuted at age 22 last season, should be the Cardinals' first man up from the minor leagues; he has a path to full playing time for a team in a transitionary year (especially if Nolan Arenado is traded), and could slug 25 homers in an infield utility role.

Saggese smashed in the Arizona Fall League (1.118 OOPS in 18 games) and has performed well in spring.

Guilty.
And I know who he is and what he did.
To my question (which I researched): I was really surprised to learn that it only takes 130 AB's (or 50 IP) to qualify for ROY. Did you know that? Seems a bit unfair somehow, but whatever: I'm in.

But everyone has an opinion:
Just Baseball
NL Rookie of the Year Odds
Roki Sasaki: +250
Dylan Crews: +300
Matt Shaw: +400
Bubba Chandler: +900
Jordan Lawlar: +1800

I agree the division bet looks good. Realistically I see the Cards with a third place ceiling. But the Cubs haven't proven anything yet and the Brewers might be due for regression. 12-1 odds look a little steep.

Well you might win the over/under win total, but then other two are pipe dreams

I see 6-1 on division odds at FanDuel not 12-1

I like that NLC bet

Open division, Cardinals-Scrubbies or Brewers could win it.

Just updated:
Cards are now +1000 to win NL Central (-200 from original bet-that is an improvement-liking my original bet)
Cards are now +10,000 to win NL Pennant (+4000 more)
Cards are now +15,000 to win World Series (+2500 more) (That is currently 200-1 odds)

What winning streak?
