Illinois wins their opening game in the Big Dance, with a 86-73 win over the Musketeers. Dominated the boards 45-25, made 18 of 18 free throws, made 12 of 30 treys. Had they not committed 14 turnovers, they would have won this game easily.
They played good defense mostly, although Swain had his career game with 27 pts.

Will Riley had a fabulous game leading the team with 22 pts, Ivisic had 20 pts and 10 rebounds, Jakucionis had 10 assists, 9 rebounds, and 16 pts, Boswell had 15 pts including 3 of 4 treys. Balanced attack and Morez Johnson had 5 rebounds and 6 pts in limited play. Nice to see him playing well such a short time after the broken wrist injury.

Up next on Sunday will be a formidable opponent - the Kentucky Wildcats. Revenge for '84??
