Interest Statistics Compared to Blues Stanley Cup team
The 2019 team had three players with 50 points. The 2025 version will have five players with fifty points
The 2019 Blues had 244 goals and 416 assists for 660 points, or 8.04 points per game. The current team is on pace for 240 goals and 420 assists for 660 points. This team currently is scoring 8.04 ppg.
Out top ten goal scorers that year had 178 goals. This year's top ten scorers are on track for 188 goals. I did factor out Saad and replaced with Walker. They both have seven goals
Our current goal differential is +3, which is 206 goals for and 203 goals against. That's really good considering we had two 8-1 losses.
This years team will probably have five 20-goal scorers. The 2019 team had three 20-goal scorers.
Our top six defenseman this year have scored 127 points to date, and that is with Paryako missing time, Fowler being here roughly half the season and Tucker playing part time. I believe if Leddy was playing the full year, he would have more points than Tucker. This projects to 151 points. The 2019 top six Blues defenseman had 142 points for the whole year.
Our goalies in 2019 were lights out, especially Binner. The goals against averages and save percentages were much better, but they are slightly above average for the whole year to date, and much better over the last twenty games or so.
The 2019 Blues had 247 goals for and 223 goals against. This year's team to date has 206 goals for and 203 goals against. That projects to 245 goals for and 241 goals against. However, since February 1st. we've had 17 games and given up 44 goals for 2.59 gaa. Our defense and goaltending is trending better lately.

Fun comparison!
Gotta get in first, then anything can happen

What about the 2008 verson?

Seriously though, this is pretty cool. Some of us have attempted to draw comparisons, and I have done so cautiously. It would be cool to just look at some averages from when the 2019 took off (mid-Jan) and compare to this year's post-break team.hockey jedi wrote: ↑19 Mar 2025 23:07 pm The 2019 Blues had 244 goals and 416 assists for 660 points, or 8.04 points per game. I would especially like to see the Hits and Blocked Shots numbers. I wonder if we're even close in these departments, and I wonder how the entire league has trended over the past 5 years.

Interesting data...thanks.
A hot, uptrending, winning, confident, healthy TEAM heading into the playoffs is a very dangerous opponent indeed. And with Parayko back, we will be very healthy. Not to mention having a proven big-game winning goalie -- that can rattle an opponent very quickly. Obviously, let's get there first. If the visiting team wins the first game of a series, then the home-ice advantage is practically flipped.
We'll see what happens. October, November, Bannister are way in the rearview mirror. It will be fun to watch the younger players quickly channel their excitement too. Let's get there first. Any and every series win will be a bonus for the fans and for this team's future.

If nothing else, the recent run has shown me how good this team can be. Even with the similarities, I don't expect them to win the cup, but I'm definitely getting excited to see if this is the window opening for the Blues!

Re: Interest Statistics Compared to Blues Stanley Cup team
A couple of additional thoughts....I believe Binner has been every bit the goalie he was in 2019, just not statistically. The team in front of him took awhile to respond.
Next, I want Paryako back as soon as healthy, but I pray he isn't rushed back, even if he's in a hurry to get back. Once you have a knee problem, you are ripe for another one.
We've given up 56 goals over the last 20 games or 2.8 gaa. However, the first three games of our last 20 were losses of 2-0, 5-2 and 5-0. However, out last 15 games we've given up 40 goals for a 2.67 gaa. Our scoring has taken the pressure off the goaltending.
Finally, if we continue at our production pace, it will extrapolate to an additional 18 goals against compared to 2019. That isn't too bad over an 82 game schedule.
It really feels like 2019. This years version of ROR, Vladi and Schenn is Thomas, Kyrou and Holloway. And oh, by the way, we still have Schenn and he will be similarly productive to 2019.

One thing about the 2019 team is that they were REALLY bad the 1st half of the year, REALLY good the second half.
This team was kinda bad the 1st half and so far, pretty good in the second half.
Regardless, if they do make it to the plyoffs. They are gonna make it a helluva series!

Binner wasn’t tonight in the biggest game. Hopefully he’s better going forwardhockey jedi wrote: ↑20 Mar 2025 12:25 pm A couple of additional thoughts....I believe Binner has been every bit the goalie he was in 2019, just not statistically. The team in front of him took awhile to respond.

Re: Interest Statistics Compared to Blues Stanley Cup team
I thought the Blues overall were slightly off. Lack of speed in the neutral zone, passes into skates, point blank shots missing the net, etc. I believe Vancouver had something to do with it in the second and third periods. We played well enough to win. Vancouver was playing like a desperate hockey team too. I love our team confidence and their ability to turn it on when they have to.
