Mo dumps 'reset' ..it's now a 'transition'

In Mo's Sunday press conference in Jupiter, he tells media that he used the term 'reset' as he didn't wish to use 'rebuild ' . Guess he is tired
of the 'reset' jargon and says a better term to explain the Cardinals approach is 'transition '.
The downside of 'transition' vs 'reset' for print journalists is that 'translation' is 10 letters vs. 5 for 'reset' . So on the print side of things, journalists whose goal is to be concise and limit space in their column have a longer word . For CT posters, it may be the same situation. Everyone has hooked on to the 'reset' word and now Mo is attempting to make a change.

So please be aware that even before the first full day of camp with all position players , the emphasis has changed.
The bad witch 'Reset ' is now dead. The good witch 'transition' has arrived in Jupiter.
The bad witch 'Reset' has a more evil twin than herself lurking to fly in on her Cardinal bat .. 'Rebuild' witch is her name .
So which witch will prevail for 2025 ? Transition ? deceased Reset ? or the dreaded Rebuild emerges?

'Witch' do you think ?

I think the org was prepared to enter a full "Reset" due to financial uncertainty but that all changed with the new TV deal. As such, they pivoted away from a full rebuild while still giving the younger guys their shot.

By no means am I defending these clowns but given the mitigating circumstances, I can't fault their logic. Only time will tell if it was a good move.

They win 87+ games, the kids all play up to their potential, and the team nabs a division title or WC spot and it will look genius.

If they lose 90+ games, the kid's underachieve, and they get $0.05 on the dollar at the TDL instead of the $0.25 they'd have gotten in the offseason, it will be a fitting end to Mo's regime.

Personally, I'd prefer the former.

This is as much as they prepared to do before the 2020 season, before covid blew the season. They have a history of this.

Reset, transition... different semantics to describe the same approach, that being they're moving towards a small market approach and resetting their payroll baseline to reflect that new reality.

I think Mo should call it a “fart parade”.

a rudderless ship at this point. changing its long term goal every other month to match whatever they havent gotten done lol. Or to boost ticket sales.

Again, Mo being Mo at his Mo best, he as a GM , again fails to convert assets the cardinals have, into assets the cardinals need.

Exactly. Mo realized Arenado is still a Cardinal today, and that fact changed the description in a way that only Arenado's NTC could DICTATE!

It would at least be more entertaining.

Come to think of it... the White Sox may be an actual fart parade. Have you seen their projected opening day rotation? My god. 8O

I believe the real word for it was from the 1960s. Since it's mostly magical fairy tale spin.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

The truth is DeWitt cut the budget and Mo is already at or well above it.

They want the revenue, but don't want the expenses.

"B.S." is only two letter.

They were planning on the reset but gray and Contreras didn’t want to be traded and he failed at trading Arenado so now he’s calling it a transition instead of saying the reset failed

Yep. Those 3 NTC's have all the leverage and power.

Like post-Gussie AB. Small thinking; a next generation that doesn't share the passion; doesn't talk baseball, but corporate speak; talks about 'building within and younger players' as if all teams don't try to; hires managers whom they think can control and leans heavily on nostalgia and then wonders why fans drift away.

Literally, the Cardinals have only one completing local sport for much of the season-soccer. Sure St. Louis is small, but add the St. Louis and St. Charles County areas and the regional appeal, you have a good fanbase. That base has shown they will attend in droves when they feel like they are provided a good product.

Like the brewery teams of the last days, they seem content to go low-risk, low competitive.

I don’t really listen to what he says anymore. He’s a lame duck. Just have to get through this year and we won’t have to listen to his nonsense anymore.

Yeah... I mean... I think ownership completely lost it as it pertains to attendance and viewership declines. They saw that and decided, "well, if you're not going to come, we're not going to invest in the team"... when this fanbase CLEARLY attends and watches when they feel like ownership is TRYING TO WIN.

I don't know why they lost their way, but they did without a doubt.
