I've wondered for decades while the Oscars, which honors MOVIES, extends the telecast by 15 to 30 needless minutes by performing each of the nominated Best Songs, which few people recognize because some of them play only over the closing credits as they leave the theater, or are played only briefly in the background during the movie.
Yet they only play a few seconds of video from each nominated acting performance and each Best Picture nominee.
This is the Oscars, not the Grammys or VMAs.
