SAG Awards Noms Announced

Unlike the Golden Globes, this is the real harbinger of the Oscars, and for this simple reason: The actors (SAG) branch of the Academy (AMPAS) has always been the largest voting bloc for Oscars. And, unlike the hilariously unqualified and motley group of voters (the HFPA) for the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild voters are actually in show business. What a concept for showbiz awards.

Yet, there are still many similarities in the nominees of the HFPA and SAG, many of whom right now are doubtlessly more concerned with keeping their homes from burning down.

“Abbott Elementary”; “The Bear”; “Hacks”; “Only Murders in the Building”; “Shrinking.”

Looks like Hacks will be the front-runner here, but so happy to see Shrinking nominated. Absolutely great cast.

Due to the wildfires, SAG has bumped its nominations announcements to Sunday; I don't think that's going to make more members watch the screeners they were mailed to confirm their final vote, while deciding when to rebuild or move, but that's their decision.
