Holloway

Post by StLouis-4life »

Have to admit I thought Holloway was going to be a decent 3rd liner but would be most useful in helping us get Broberg. Never did I imagine he would be the leading goal scorer 26 games in to the season. Did anyone watch him last year what is the ceiling on this kid?

Per LastWordonHockey:

Projection and Comparison

Holloway is extremely fundamentally sound. He is a coach’s dream with his effort level and his willingness to do all the little things necessary to win games. A lack of offensive production at Wisconsin is a bit of a concern though. He has all the tools but it did not seem to lead to a lot of points last season. Being an NCAA freshman is tough, especially on a team where Alex Turcotte and Cole Caufield were higher in the pecking order and got more ice time.

Expect Holloway to play another season in college. It is hoped that more responsibility will see him take his game to the next level. While he mainly played on the wing last year, his skating and his defensive game may allow him to play centre going forward. His game is reminiscent of Jordan Staal. This is a stylistic comparison only and not one based on skill or ability.

You could tell just by his playoffs that he had talent. Several posters were talking down the Blues offer sheet acquisitions, I think they swayed some opinions herein.

From what I remember, only Rollin was outwardly against the offer sheets.

I think that before the end of the season, they both will be en fuego.

Long time Blues fans will remember a young C/LW who buried on the ultra-talented Canadiens, Chuck Lefley. Given a chance to play, he blossomed into a 40 goal scorer. Unfortunately, his production and career were cut short by injuries. He’s my comp to Holloway.

I didn't get to see much of him during his peak years but that seems like a good comp.

Right now Armstrong with Broberg and Holloway looks like a freakin' genius.

I loved Chuck Lefley back in the day…such a great Blue. Dylan should change his name to Chuck. Chuck Holloway would be the best name in the entire NHL

Yea "4th line plug" as if you can judge the career of a 22 year old NHLer off of stats

I heard some stats yesterday on Dylan. Basically, he shoots the puck with more velocity than about 90% of NHLers and he skates faster than about 80% of NHLers. And non-statistically, his hands around the net are better than you'd think. He was drafted 14th overall because he has always had talent.
The Bannister system was not a good fit and for a couple weeks before the coach change DH did not look comfortable with the puck on his stick. It was like he could hear Bannister's voice saying "Don't turn it over whatever you do." DH looked like he was playing with a hot potato. Not anymore.

Just think what this team's record would be without those two ... I'd wager we'd be in the cellar.
