RIP. He was such a powerful force in the Dead. I had the pleasure of attending a party at his club, Terrapin Crossroads, in Marin County. I spent the entire party talking to basically nobody (great for both me and the other guests) while casually looking at every incredible piece of music memorabilia he has on the walls of the place. Just an incredibly history of the story of the Dead and Rock.

If anyone is interested Phish played last night. Phish and the Dead have a curious (mostly non) relationship over the decades. The last time Phish played a Dead tune was in Aug of 1998 on the anniversary of Jerry's death. They played Terrapin Station. Last night in Albany Phish opened with Box of Rain and it's a fantastic watch. Sorry about the ads.

Mike Gordon played Grateful Dead tunes with Jake's Leg at the BOB on 8-1-24. It was Jerry Garcia's birthday show. He stayed in St. Louis an extra day to jam with Jake's Leg after the two Phish shows at Chaifetz on 7-30 & 7-31-24.

I was there for part of the show. It was a fun night. Gonna digress a bit OT here for a sec. I'm getting to the age where the crowds at places like the BOB get to be too much. Can't stand around and dance in a jammed bar like I used to. Are you familiar with Tipitina's in New Orleans? Holds I dunno 600-800 folks. You probably also are aware of the Radiators. They stopped touring a decade ago but every January they play three nights reunion shows at Tips. Love going but same first world problem, it is just so freaking crowded. It's such a hassle to get a beer or pee. And I don't think New Orleans has actual fire codes.

Ya know, I've always wondered if the truly stupid know that they're truly stupid. Do they just muddle by thinking they're normal or attempt (always unsuccessfully) to fool others into thinking that they're just like anyone else. So I'm asking you. Do you know?
