Ronan Polanski's Teen Rape Cases: 1 Down, 1 To Go

From the New York Times: "The film director Roman Polanski will no longer face a civil trial next year over accusations that he sexually assaulted a teenage girl more than five decades ago, after reaching an out-of-court settlement with his accuser that led to the dismissal of the lawsuit, lawyers for both sides said on Wednesday.

The lawsuit against Mr. Polanski, 91, was filed in the Superior Court in Los Angeles County in June 2023 and had been scheduled to go to trial in August 2025. The terms of the settlement were not immediately disclosed.

In the lawsuit, the accuser, identified only as Jane Doe, says she met Mr. Polanski at a party in 1973, when she was a minor. Months later, she met him a second time at his home in Benedict Canyon, where he gave her two shots of tequila, the lawsuit says. Later they went to dinner in Los Angeles, where she was given more alcohol and eventually became sick, before going back to his house, the lawsuit says."

The BIG one we all know, when he raped 13 year old Samantha Geimer at Jack Nicholson's house, is still on the books, which is why he still can't return to the USA, despite Geimer's requests to drop the case. Geimer's stage mother saw Polanski's ad recruiting young models for a Vogue Euro photo shoot, and left her there alone with the director, who was house-sitting while Nicholson was in Europe.

He plied Samantha with booze and Quaaludes, then took her into the patio pool, where he raped her vaginally and anally.

Charges were filed, and he spent a few weeks in jail while his lawyers pled his case, getting him released for time served until the judge, running for re-election, changed his mind and told insiders he was going to reneg on the legal agreement and imprison Polanski for years. That's when he fled for Europe, never to return, living in Poland, France, and Switzerland.

He also slept with his teen star of "Tess", Nastassia Kinski, who got upset and phoned the film's producer from their bed, claiming "He want to shoot my vagina!!", meaning do a full-on camera closeup, like Bob Gibson peering in for the sign, for the movie. That shot didn't happen.
