Can someone please explain this TV commercial to me?

Post by Pink Freud »

It's for a cellphone carrier. It begins with two nice-looking, lookalike men, about 30 (brothers?) who are dressed like businessmen, standing in front of a rolling garage/storage locker door(???). They are going through odd vocalizations (???).

And this is supposed to get us to change carriers. How...and why?

Those are the actors from the TV show "Suits". I've seen the commercial a couple of times but really didn't pay attention to it but I'm guessing there is some context between the commercial and the show.

Yep, it's the actors from Suits.....no, there is no correlation to the show itself, it's just them being goofy "behind the scenes" and supposedly "warming up" to do the actual commercial. T-Mobile is just trying to cash in on the recent success of the Suits revival on streaming.

They're from Suits. You should probably watch the show, but you will not. But hey! E for effort, Mr. Entertainment.

Thanks to all for clearing this up. Obviously, I've never seen "Suits", and for two actors from it to appear in the T-Mobile commercial without context the show must be much, much bigger than I ever knew.

I get moving-nightmares flashbacks from seeing that orange storage locker door (???). I still have no idea how many things I left behind for "Storage Wars" bidders.

Then again, with 2,000+ networks, each with dozens of their own series, I guess a few (like "Suits" in my case) are bound to slip past the casual viewer.

It was originally a Super Bowl commercial that they have just kept going. Like I said above, Suits was a huge hit once it moved to Netflix.
