It's also good for the players. There are guys like Broberg and Hollywood that aren't getting the shot at appropriate times because some teams have a wealth of riches. But they aren't tradeable players either except for more draft picks so neither side wants to do those deals. The Blues have a wealth of riches at goalie. about 30 out of 32 teams would take Hofer as their number 2, and another 5-10 would seriously consider him as their number 1. The Blues are just that flush at goalie. Or should I say they were.dr0zombie wrote: ↑07 Oct 2025 14:56 pm It is like everyone forgot what the waivers process is.![]()
The choice is Ellis is at camp and exposed, or not at camp. Simple. Teams usually take the risk and get the player development camp time.
Buffalo is a team that is a mess within a mess via a dumpster fire of a goaltending. Taking a 3rd place depth player from St Louis is like inserting magic into their swill soup of draft picks. Not fun to have to lose a good guy like Ellis, the waivers process is a leveling out process. It has always been there to force teams rich in player depth to get picked a bit by teams weak in player depth especially at the start of the season. Call it the taxes for being NHL draft savvy.

Looks like Ellis landed in a good spot, maybe not the best organization, but is the backup to #1 Alex Lyon. Should a start here and there.
