Agree with looking more often at Herrera in LF, giving Church more opps, and seeing Torres at a number of positions. I am hopeful about Baez, but don't want to have any MLB expectations of him next season. If he makes it, fine. I would like to see Baiez and Chase Davis go to Memphis and really kick the door down to the point that you just know you have to give them a look. I wouldn't bring either one of them up on a hope.
I watched a lot of MiLB games last year thanks to the archive element of that subscription, and Davis was a major disappointment offensively (and surprisingly good defensively). His pitch recognition and huge swing are a major problems, as he misses pitches by big margins.
From the outside looking in at the boxscores, it seems like his results got quite a bit better from July (or so) on. Is that accurate, or do you think that was a fluke?
You're right that he finished strong in a short September, but he was all over the place, as the screenshot below shows. He can't hit LHP. Not much power (10 HRs) for a guy who seems to swing for the fences every AB. He's fallen to the #26 prospect for STL and that says volumes for the former #1 pick. Last - note his troubles with older pitchers, which he'd see at the big league level.

Wow! 4 hits and a .386 OPS for the whole month of June! That's as a bad a month as I've seen for a professional hitter. That will ruin your whole year's line, no matter how well you could do otherwise.

I believe that Bader is in his prime and could potentially outperform a 2 year contract.
Agree.
Funny because I mentioned Bader almost three months ago and everyone here said it would/should never happen.
Thanks. Some try to flame me over this opinion, but Bader would be a perfect 4th OF Zfor this LH heavy team
Read the room.
Bader is coming off his best season in years and is a FA approaching 33 years old.
There’s no doubt he’s positioning for his last ‘big’ contract, which could be over 30mil for 2-3 years.
Read the room? Coming from the guy blowing the Nick Castellsnos and T Pham trumpet?
You are laughable.
Most reports have him anywhere from 2/16 yo 3/36.
I'd go 2/16 in a heartbeat. Another tradeable piece at the deadline.
Good luck dealing Castellanos at the deadline.
You really don’t understand how this rebuild thing works. Especially with a lockout on the horizon
Bring up rational RH suggestions.
1) you said “Bader would be the perfect 4th OFer.” You want to sign a 4th OFer to a multi year deal for minimum 10 per year?
2. You said “he can be flipped at the deadline.” Okay, Bader at the TDL w a .675 ops and owed at least 12mil can easily be flipped? Okay…
Read the room w Bader. He wants max money, a multi year deal, and doesn’t want to go anywhere where he’s a RH platoon.
If the team trades NC for NA, they 1) save money 2) get a RHer w a higher offensive floor than Bader and 3) inherit only a 1 year contact….a lot easier to flip..

Once again ecleme, you are the king of moving goalposts to attempt to support your flawed narrative. I or no one ever said $10m or $12m per season for Bader.
Yet you did.
I said 2 years at $8m per year is something I’d be willing to do.

Okay, please provide proof that he is looking for 2/16 mil.
Or is this your made up number?
Either way, my points still stand.

Nick will only need to be on a 20HR pace at the deadline for some
team to want a RH bat. He will be owed under $7 million at that time
chump change. So as a deadline piece if that's the goal, I think Nick
is better.
A important piece is the Arenado one. Imagine getting rid of his contract for
a total of $14 million. Half is $20 and they'd get a low-level piece back on NA.
Nick if bad only cost $20. You only miss out on the low-level prospect. If good he fills
a need plus whatever return. There's rationale to it even if you do not agree.
Bader has a place. He serves a purpose. I believe he signs for over $30 million total.
That's fine but be prepared to pay it in full.

He posted four war in 450 at bats last year. Even at half that production he’d be our best outfielder. Make him a starter.

I have wondered if Herrera could play 3rd? Many catchers have made that switch. Is his arm too weak? I don’t know.

If you sign one of those dudes, the kids still play.

Bader would be a good 4th OF. One of a couple FA's they could sign and fill a hole. Baez may be close, Walker needs to hit. I could see Herrera in LF.
