SS is his best position
Carefully scouty, you just insinuated the chosen one could be tradeable.
Do not be one but surprised if Bloom sees exactly the same opportunity.
Why I first floated the idea of dealing Winn a few weeks ago.

If he can land a cost controlled #2 starter for Winn, then I'd do it in a heart beat.

Bloom has no stake in any of these players, he'll trade anyone of them if it brings back what this team needs.
Offensively... Winn is inferior to jj
By a mile
Yeah, but he’s a 6 DRS SS, and his OPS is only .035 less than Donny. I’d rather keep Wynn and send Donovan out in a trade, all else equal. Having two guys who are both plus SS and one of them plays second most of the time is a high-class problem.
There's little doubt M. Winn is an elite defender, that's a given.

But this team needs starting pitching in 2026 and if he could bring back a good one, then I'm all in.

The offensive upgrade at SS from JJ is just to good not to consider dealing Winn.

(And I don't think Donny brings back the quality SP like Winn could)
I don’t like it. Winn defense more than makes up for his light hitting. Put JJ at SS you still got a hole at second and third. Leave Winn in place, JJ to second or third creates a formidable infield.

As for Winn in a trade, he would not bring back enough to satisfy his defense.

You gotta have cornerstones from which to build. He’s one.
No doubt his glove is an asset, which is why on an offensive team he'd be a nice addition.

That's why I dangle him, he does have value and coupled w/one of our young catchers he could bring back a starting pitcher.

But on this team that elite defense and average bat isn't helping them get over the hump.

And no hole at 2B BDog, B. Donovan is there.

Gorman targeted for 3rd.
Cmon. Gorman at third is a disaster. I’m good with Donovan, although he ranks 19ish for second baseman.

Brand new toy- JJ, who is a whiz kid, we need third base filled. If this kid can do it, that goes a great deal towards a bat and stellar infield defense.

We see what our defense does for a middling team, us. Gets us .500.

Put this defense with an offense I see competition.

Great opportunity to seal the infield for years to come.

JJ Wetherholt in 16 AAA games so far:

19 runs scored
21 hits
5 doubles
6 HR’s
12 RBI’s
9 BB’s

And oh by the way he started at 3rd today
The future is taking shape.
Gorman 3b.
Winn SS.
Wetherholt 2B.
Donovan LF.
Herrera fighting Walker for RF.
Burleson / Contreras 1b and DH.
CF TBD, with Scott getting a competitor for the job.
Easy.
Obvious.
Correct.
Herrera needs to buy an arm, before he is qualified for RF.
His issue at catcher was not arm strength.
It was a slow pop time and terrible accuracy.
Have you seen Walker's arm?
He overthrew a cutoff last night and missed home plate by 25 feet.
Is a choice between Herrera and Walker ideal?
Far from it.
But it is the choice the team is facing - only room for one of them as a corner outfielder (whether it be LF or RF).

Have to give him some game play to adjust BDog,moving from one side of the diamond to the other at the major league level takes reps unless you're a SUP like B. Donovan who's use to it.

But it's very hard to have both (great offense + great defense) BDog, you have to sacrifice some defense at SS if it means you get a much greater offensive player.
