Yea I was watching radar. I bet with recent tornado, there’s more caution when a storm gets neat or predicted.12xu wrote: ↑19 May 2025 10:21 amIF it weren't for the stormy and rainy weather predicted for today and tomorrow, I believe you are correct.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑19 May 2025 09:10 am What gets them back school is over and Detroit in town. With a max capacity around 41K, the chart seems to support my take as they often exceed 80 and even 90% over last 20 years. I didn’t specify timeframes though so maybe I’m guilty of moving the goalposts on you. Either way, thanks for supporting link. Keeps me honest!12xu wrote: ↑19 May 2025 08:18 amMyth.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑18 May 2025 08:24 amShady-Guy, is that you? Just be yourself buddy. You’re an odd duck but we don’t hate you. 1. A return to winning baseball.
2. Better weather.
3. Summer vacation (kids out of school).
Cardinal fans not BFIB. Maybe best fans “of” baseball. No one appreciates hard-nosed and fundamentally sound play and recognizes when it’s not than STL fans.
BFIB? Hate to say it but probably Cub fans. No matter how bad they are they pack the house. You don’t earn the name “Loveable Losers” for nothing.

Last 20 years they have had excellent crowds at Wrigley, since they have had winning records for the most part. When they were losing consistently in the many seasons prior, they did not draw very well.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑19 May 2025 12:38 pmWith a max capacity around 41K, the chart seems to support my take as they often exceed 80 and even 90% over last 20 years. School is getting out, the team's positive play appears to be more than a hot streak, if the weather will cooperate the crowds will pick up soon.

Playoff baseball?
Re: What will it take to fill the stands?
Good points...sure seemed like they threw in the towel before the first game. It was clearly a cash dump. And yes, it is early. If they are playing well in July, it could get interesting.Dicktar2023 wrote: ↑18 May 2025 21:44 pm This organization basically dared the fans to stop showing up. I dunno...maybe some people aren't willing to buy in already in May.
Mo isn't making any sudden moves until the trade deadline. Why should we?

Total scam...most have been removed...Walmart greedramfandan wrote: ↑17 May 2025 21:31 pmYour second point may be one to watch as Wal Mart announced on national news that by end of month they will be raising prices due to the tariffs .
Possibly some of that increase would have gone to buying tix for a Cardinal game ? Who knows

not on a Monday night
Re: What will it take to fill the stands?
It will take a good while to get back the weekday crowds. Tone-deaf organization finally got an earful and eyeful.

Will get my Cardinal Fix via Free Avenues and VIA CT.
Will not spend a Plum Nickel otherwise. Though I do need a new cap and a coupla shirts. Blows.
DollaBill, sadly, is as checked out as you know who was for the last 4 years, if not longer. The farly flung from the tree apple could give 2 craps about the Team or it's fanbase, and that means us.
Will wait em out, as I had to do Post Gussie, for a bit.
I Thank Bill for a Great Run and a Return to Relevance. It was a Glorious Run all Things Considered. Sure, could have stepped up or out a bit more in the Post TLR Days but hard to complain Net Net.
But similar to the Sun and the English Empire, The Sun has set on DeWitts Fine Stewardship of our Heirloom franchise.
And the lesser, much lesser DeWitt, has turned us into a McMahon/Feld Production. And the Crowds, or should I say lack of crowds, are responding in kind.
Time for New Ownership.

Reality
As the Dad checked out and the son checked in our fortunes increasingly diminished.
And the attitude was basically G[od] F[orgives] Y[ou].
At least the Dad would schmooze you as he picked your pockets.
The Much Lesser DeTwitt could give eff all about baseball, it's fans, his own team, his own fan base, outside of ways to monetize it further without having to actually improve the team in the process.
Do you see it any different???

We aren’t talking about moving to North City or North County, though. We are talking about attending baseball games downtown, which was never a problem, despite crime statistics and the incident you described. The problem started when management stopped investing in the team.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑18 May 2025 21:15 pmoh my gosh those suburban [kittycats] right?Midrange Jay wrote: ↑18 May 2025 16:28 pmAnd mysteriously it did not affect attendance for the next 4 years. But is a tragic story like that limited to St. Louis? That could happen in any city in America. Are fans in other cities afraid to go downtown because of a five-year-old incident? And again, walking through the Arch grounds. At night. In a group of two. Does that sound like smart situational awareness to anyone? Of course not. Does it excuse or justify a tragic event? Not at all. But we all have a responsibility to minimize risk and be smart when in any city. Walking through a dark park after a game to save a few bucks on parking is not what I would call smart.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑18 May 2025 10:25 amMy apologies, shot and paralyzed, because that is much betterdesertrat23 wrote: ↑17 May 2025 23:22 pmI would be very interested to read a story about someone being shot and killed leaving a Cardinals game. To answer the question, if the team keeps playing well and the old, white, Safe Charles crowd realizes that traveling downtown isn’t an immediate death sentence, the stands will fill.
Until they make a safety a top priority I don't blame anyone not wanting to go.
Again, parking garage attached to the stadium. I promise you’ll live through the experience and no homeless person will talk to you for more than a second or two.

No, that was only the event, and yes many people did still attend.
The downtown as a whole however has multiple businesses leave, money not come back, development slowed, and of course the continued top 5 ranking of most dangerous city in the country (yes I know a lot of it has to do with the median count)
Now if I gave you the option of living in North St. Louis or just North County, would you be a panty waste for choosing North County or just making a safer more logical choice?

Re: What will it take to fill the stands?
1. shootout in daylight near Market Street 2. people hit by bullets sitting in seats at stadium 3. robberies have occurred outside sporting venues in STL.
Having stated this the area still is not as bad as hyped at times but STL needs more federal marshal cleaning. I think Spencer will address more as time goes but she has hands full from decades of idiots running STL and the tornado. I despised Gardner and Tissue being in charge. I've seen first hand East STl govt at work and not sure why feds haven't done something about that.
It all begins w leadership who are not out to only line pockets. Too may US people are just that. No thoughts to the greater good
