Hit a solo HR, and then is responsible for 2 or 3 runs scoring.....that's -2.
I love his bat, but that trade off isn't really encouraging.
If Herrera sits, I understand why.
Eh, it was a 3-run HR. And the trade off is even more of a positive if he DHs instead of Contreras.
And at least one stolen base can be blamed on Fedde. Huge jump by Duran off first base in the first inning. No kind of throw from Herrera or Bench was going to nail him.
And this is a front office and player development problem. People need to get off Herrera's back. He plays where he's assigned to play.
I didn't realize it was his 1st year catching and he's still learning the position
As I said, it's a player development issue. There is no way Herrera should have gotten through the minors without a change in position. Pure stupidity on the organization's part.
I said 2 years ago he needed to move to a corner outfield role.
Easy.
Obvious.
Correct.
I doubt you stated this.
Move him or trade him.
Said it after the '23 season.
Said it after the '24 season.
Said it consistently the entire time.
Took some grief for it.
But I was - and remain - completely correct.
Anyone who knows what he is looking at when observing the game could see it.
Problem is, he is yet another result of the TOXIC CULTURE which has defined the last several years of the Super Slo Mo regime.
Many players have been anointed roles - with little to no consideration as to what is best for the team or the player.
Eephus is in that category.
More classic stuff!
Got my daily laughs in early.
Easy
Obvious
Correct
Leave him alone. He was picked on in high school and he's never recovered.
Funny....I always wonder how many lockers he was stuffed in back then?
He obviously follows the game and has good observations/opinions.
If it wasn’t for the nauseating self promotion I believe many would engage with him.
We also don’t need his “resume” on a daily basis! LOL
He's a narcissistic liar and a bore.

Looks like it could keep raining until about 8PM central.
Under ordinary circumstances, they would scrap it and play two tomorrow.
But tomorrow night is the ESPN game… so I’d bet they try and get something in tonight, even if it gets late.
So.....start game 1 at noon tomorrow! Not so difficult to do!

I think they’ll try to get something in tonight. If it rains again, suspend it and try to finish early tomorrow.

I think ESPN would be strongly averse to having the back end of a DH with their rights fees. They want all the stars fresh for their $550mm. They will exhaust every avenue to get it in. If not July, I guess.

Yeah. The Weather Channel radar looks like a window opens up around 8:30 Pm to midnight central time.
Forecast for tomorrow looks like a mess of rain. They ought to get this game in tonight.

Yep. I’m surprised they called it so early, because it looks like they could have started it as a late-ish night game. Plus, there’s more rain in the forecast tomorrow morning.

Catching on one knee with runners on base isn't going to help.
I don't know who the idiot was who taught him that but they shouldn't have anything to do with being on a ball diamond.
Maybe the ghost of Manny Sanguillen. At least I think he passed.
Or Tony Pena.
Yes, and I googled Manny, he is still kicking. Used to see him signing at a lot of card shows, mostly in Pittsburgh and Kansas City, some in Chicago.
He was one of my favorite players even though he played for a rival.
Me too.

Rain ends up in Boston around 1 Sunday and they will play tomorrow night because of ESPN, unless it’s a steady downpour

He can't throw anybody out. That's a fact.
He rainbows his throws.
IMO not an exceptionally strong arm.
Therefore must get into throwing position faster and be more assertive
in taking the follow through, batters interference if they don't give IH his lane.
He throws from his knees

Sky's are clearing in Beantown around 1230pm!
Man, this is the BEST time of the year! (Well, so is Oct when Cards are playoff bound)
Blues currently longest winning streak in franchise history, team gearing up for playoffs (plz no mo injuries).
Cards are actually ABOVE .500 and have more runs in 7 games than the team probably had in 15 games last season.
Keep it going!
