That said I'm not really sure how he bothers anyone at this point.. his playbook is completely predictable and nothing he says can be taken seriously

You can not like the messenger all you want but if you can watch this game tonight and not admit to yourself we suck you're the biggest problem facing this team going forward for condoning it. We tried the patch the team for miracle run approach for the last half decade...
Can we trust our scouting dept with top picks now pls...

No teams are bidding on our players either. Even the very best ones we got.Unfathomable wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 21:45 pm You can not like the messenger all you want but if you can watch this game tonight and not admit to yourself we suck you're the biggest problem facing this team going forward for condoning it. Is that the 3rd or 4th time you've cast that exact same bait?

They aren’t trolls. They just don’t understand hockey very well. Pity them … don’t call them problems.Unfathomable wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 21:45 pm if you can watch this game tonight and not admit to yourself we suck you're the biggest problem facing this team going forward for condoning it.

The Blues are scoring a laughably boring 2.45 goals per game. That ain't a goalie problem. They are very lucky their record isn't a lot worse.Bluesfan1978 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 08:57 am No team will look good when your starting goalie is 89th in goals saved above expected and the backup could stop a beach ball the 1st month of the year. Hofer is now in the 50’s in goals saved above expected.

Gotta be concerned about the core here. I've been a big fan of Thomas and hate to place this problem on him but there are serious concerns about do you want to build your team around this guy who has these question marks. They're at a crossroads. They will certainly grab a top 5 pick this summer and the under 23 group here is being built. The question is do they rely on the current 24 and older group to lead that 23 & under group? I don't envy Steen right now. I'm leaning towards blowing that older core up though, but is it even possible if teams don't want your players? Rough spot.
Re: Dreger - on the Blues downfall “they just aren’t that good”
The only saving grace is that none of the contracts are cap busters. All three combined - i.e. Thomas, Kyrou and Buch - hurt but if you can rid yourself of one without getting killed, you're not in a bad place. Kyrou is the obvious candidate where I think you can move him and it wouldn't be horrible. You probably wouldn't have to "pay" someone to take him so to speak but the return will probably not be great.ratonmono2 wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 09:17 am Gotta be concerned about the core here. IF Army can trade Faulk/Schenn AND one of Thomas, Kyrou or Buch then this can be a quicker turnaround. Im assuming the Blues also gets a Top 5 pick to add to whatever is coming in the next wave, likely one season of college or wherever then the Blues

They will most likely get a top 5 pick but it sucks that Vancouver is SOOOOO atrocious this year. Not sure the Blues can catch them, so the chances of getting that #1 pick is super low.ratonmono2 wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 09:17 am Gotta be concerned about the core here. Agreed. We are all probably falling into prisoner of the moment in regard to Thomas also. If they move him, he will retrieve a big package for sure. Kyrou is really the obvious move here. He's been a poor fit for years and it seems Army was stubbornly sticking to a price that was too high which has only diminished his actual value. Army's weakness; too hardheaded. It's cost us big time the past six years.MiamiLaw wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 10:30 amThe only saving grace is that none of the contracts are cap busters. When you have no confidence in your goaltending it affects every other aspect of the gameicon wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 23:18 pmThe Blues are scoring a laughably boring 2.45 goals per game.
