And what GM will step forward to trade for a player with RISK for 5 more years on contract?! GMs are happy to tske a chance on a guy for 1 year, but 5 years is asking too much. A mistake move like that could get a coach fired.
This contract duration will severely limit the value returned for Thomas.
And Army has 3 players for trade like that…

It's late Saturday night what the hell I found a guy with breaking news who said the Blues aren't playing well so that's gold gotta go with it in quotes.
Oh I forgot the other resident troll says RT has no value so no worry he's not going anywhere.

Nothing shocking here really. The Blues are not very good and everyone on this team is likely available in the right deal. Just because Thomas is available does not mean he is going anywhere. It's been bantered about for weeks but in the right deal Thomas would get a nice return. For me though the only way to trade Thomas or Parayko for that matter is if the replacement is coming back.

No team will look good when your starting goalie is 89th in goals saved above expected and the backup could stop a beach ball the 1st month of the year. Hofer is now in the 50’s in goals saved above expected.

He actually did if you actually had the ability to comprehend (and the exact opposite take to your point) . Just to clue you in and help you out - His discussion of chevelydayoff talking about the necessity(and difficulty) of small market teams finding productive players with TERM . Thomas fits that bill and is why his purported availability in Dreger's eyes is a head scratcher.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 06:17 amHe forgot to say 1 thing, that I brought up a week ago..zuck698 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 00:52 amWow! I have to disagree. I think Thomas contact at a fixed 8.5 for five more years for a number 1 or at worse 2nd/top six center would help his valve. Look at some of the players now getting ten million plus and don't have the numbers that Thomas does.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 06:17 amHe forgot to say 1 thing, that I brought up a week ago..zuck698 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 00:52 amWow! I don't have a problem trading him, but you can not just get prospects and a pick back. You need to get at least one NHL player back who is not just a salary dump back but who is a top six guy that can step into the line up.
Re: Dreger - on the Blues downfall “they just aren’t that good”
The bigger issue whether he gets traded or not is that they don’t see him as a leader/question whether they can win with etc.rangergiff wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 08:35 am Nothing shocking here really. This goes back years
Re: Dreger - on the Blues downfall “they just aren’t that good”
It’s not just about points. Teams want to win. There are players making more who score 50 points who GM’s would rather have. The league isn’t salivating over Thomas because Army is overvaluing. People aren’t dumb. They watch and hear what the Blues have said about him.stanw wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 09:42 amI have to disagree. You have absolutely no idea if the league is salivating over Thomas you're just making [shirt] up for the reactions.. 1 out of 10 on your trolling.

Well top guys in the game are implying they aren’t…saying asking price is too high. Gotta remember he’s a number 2 on many, many teams.Walter Sobchak00 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 11:26 am You have absolutely no idea if the league is salivating over Thomas you're just making [shirt] up for the reactions.. 1 out of 10 on your trolling.
There are a lot of concerns for teams and it doesn’t smell good.
Why don’t the Blues want to build around Thomas Walter? Is this where you say you don’t know?

Quinn Hughes trade speculation started April 2025, he was traded December 2025.. was the NHL not salivating over him?theograce wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 11:32 amWell top guys in the game are implying they aren’t…saying asking price is too high. Is Thomas still on the team? So the Blues are still building around him. The asking price shows you how much the Blues value him.

Quinn Hughes lol. Is Quinn Hughes a number 2 on many, many teams? Have any cup coaches stated Quinn doesn’t care about his team and doesn’t earn his money?Walter Sobchak00 wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 11:35 amQuinn Hughes trade speculation started April 2025, he was traded December 2025.. was the NHL not salivating over him?theograce wrote: ↑18 Jan 2026 11:32 amWell top guys in the game are implying they aren’t…saying asking price is too high.
