100% well said just enjoy the ride. It is frustrating to me that the team waits till now to check as a a team and play for each other but we don't know who was banged up Rivers mentioned Buch getting treatment was Brobie still nursing his injury during the break, Leddy is coming back into form. Whatever the cause or reason the team is play winning hockey the prospects will come when they are ready and the franchise will be better for it then but for now these players earned their ice time

You say the team "waited until now" like it was intentional. Remember, this roster is one of the youngest in the NHL, they had yet another coaching change a few months into the season, and there's about 1/3 roster turnover from last season, so out of every 3 players, one is a new face.

My hope was they'd start showing the current cohesion by January but, all things considered, there is still 1/4 of the season to go and they're 1 pt out of a WC spot and 6 pts from a top-3 in their division.

What does drive me crazy, and this is a ubiquitous throughout all professional sports... I thought that 4-nations face off was a gimmicky blah blah that people were way too melodramatic about. But clearly the 2-week break allowed guys to get healthy and play at a different level.

If you're that hurt or injured that you can't even "fight and win puck battles," wth are you playing every single game instead of getting the rest needed????

Personally, I'd rather have a player at 90%+ capability for 70 games than I would 50% for 82 games.

+1 and hell yeah. I don't know that I have ever seen a team that I have been as fervent about play more beautifully than this team has been playing lately. It's been fun to watch. Falling down 1-0 at home last night to a very good team-I wasn't even worried a bit. Can't say I have felt that way about this team in awhile.

When you look at it the Blues have actually played their last 6 games very well including 4 top teams.

They played up to each team dead even at worst.

Looking at the 3 Teams in the hunt, Vancouver, Calgary, Us and Utah:

Vancouver is in rough shape. They are 4-5-1 in their last 10. Miller is gone, Boeser and/or Soucy are on the block and Hughes is hurt. They have an average strength of schedule, but they are having a really tough time scoring. We've picked up 5 points on them in the last 10 games and they have 2 games in hand.

Calgary has scored one goal in their last 3 games. In a larger trend, they've only scored 3 goals or more in about 1/2 of their last 25 games and they are 2nd to last in scoring. Their strength of schedule is a little better than Vancouver's, but we've picked up 6 points on them in the last 10 games. They have 2 games in hand.

Utah is playing okay right now; they are 6-4-0 in their last 10. Their special teams are pretty good for their position in the standings (11th overall in kill and %). They have a good strength of schedule. We've only distanced ourselves 2 points from them in the last 10 and they have 1 game in hand.

I'm going to list Anaheim as a dark horse, they are playing really weel right now. They are 5 points back but have 3 games in hand, but they have a tough road the rest of the season.

All in all, I just don't think Calgary or Vancouver have it in them to claim the last spot, I see the fight between us and Utah. If we can keep up the way we've been playing the last few games and be consistent, we're in really good shape. This road trip is going be a huge test! Man this is a fun time of year!!!

One of my favorite Blues memories is from what some here would describe as a wasted season. The '09 playoff run was a hell of a lot of fun, and because they had been bad for years at that point, tickets were cheap, especially on StubHub. We had tickets to the last home game that season because I got them cheap online in December. Then they started their run in February. It was Fan Appreciation Night, Al MacInnis was working our entrance, taking tickets in a tux, welcoming fans. To make the playoffs, we either had to win that night against Columbus and the following game or just the Columbus game if Minnesota lost that day. It was standing room only 19,000 plus that night and it was nuts. Early in the 3rd, they posted the MIN final and they had lost, the place exploded. We crushed CBJ and got our playoff spot and I got to share it with my wife and 2 oldest kids (they were like 13 and 16 at the time) it was disappointing that they got blown out in the playoffs but I would never trade that feeling for any draft pick. I didn't feel that way for EJ or Petro. It was a great night in the STL.

This is something to keep in mind when evaluating all of this is goal differential:

St. Louis -6
Utah -8
Vancouver -16
Calgary -21

Those numbers absolutely favor St. Louis and very likely we will soon be on the positive end of that number. Finishing in the negative is not a good indicator of making the playoffs.

If we can beat Vancouver in regulation that would essentially put us in the drivers seat.

Calgary is about to go through the hardest part of their remaining schedule and I think you'd have to say just going .500 on it would be an accomplishment.

Vancouver is about to do the same.

The one thing we can't do is overlook Nashville as they still have O'Reilly, Saros, Forsberg, Stamkos, and Marchessault.

Go 2-1 against them and that should put us in a great spot.
