yeah, and they have a pick or two up their sleeves remaining...sign away a hurt player, or have a big signing for a Prep Guy. The San Diego 1B and this Hawaii lad are probably underslot signings to save 100K or 200K
I get that Crav, but it seems such a waste to pick these guys this high in the draft knowing in 2 or 3 years they’ll just be let go. I know they’ve done this in the past and the guy they saved all that money for, didn’t pan out either. The draft really is a (bleep) shoot, but I don’t like the way this draft is going now. It’s looking like today’s picks are all mostly just cannon fodder. No offense to these players or their families, but nobody had them being picked this high. I guess let’s see who they’re saving their money, but he better be darned good!
They've passed over some very talented Top 100 guys who were still on the board to take unranked guys. I don't remember this happening that much in the past.

last year...we drafted (bleep) after Wetherolt.

and if you can't appreciate the first 4 picks in this draft...vs. the (bleep) from last year....then something is wrong with you, Cranny.

Don't be fooled by your want of a power bat....this is on the good end of the draft scale...so far.

True, but some of the more talented guys are already at Springfield. Guys like Henderson.

Yes, I don’t like there being fewer teams. I’ve always been a minor league follower. Some of the guys you named need to be gone though. They’ve had their chances.
Matthew Fisher is a kid ranked #46 that’s still available. He lives less than a hour away here in Indiana. I’m not sure where’s he’s committed to go, but I’d like to see the Cardinals lure him away. He’s a RHP.

Jack Findlay and Andrew Kutyanch from 2024...I wonder what we'll overpay him to leave Gonzaga?

Slot is what 280? That’s good money to rehab an elbow

Has any team picked Jack Bauer , a RHP, Illinois HS player yet? He was projected as a top 50 prospect.

Payton Graham -

As a freshman at Zaga - 11.67 ERA
As a Sophomore at Zaga - 8.91 ERA
As a junior at Zaga - 1 inning pitched. Hurt.

Please explain this for a 7th round pick.

Struggled with command. Hits 96. 4 pitches that could work. Blew out his elbow. 7th round flyer.

we won't see him until 2026 August? I'll tell you then ;) And he won't be effective until 2027...if even then? We'll see. The Cards new R&D has a stripped down pitcher to work with here, maybe they'll make water into wine?

I don't like drafting hurt pitchers with command issues. I always complain about them...always.
