So much for the Sharks being a threat!IsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 15:40 pm Mike Grier is going to regret taking on darnell nurse. Nothing retained by edmonton.

Change of scenery will do wonders for Nurse. I like that move for the Sharks actually. Grier wants the playoffs, he’s got the Sharks on their way for sure

The hate on Nurse is similar to Kyrou in my opinion, meaning it’s all about the contract. He’ll be a good addition on that team. And between Marchment, Nurse, Sherwood, Goodrow and Trouba, they are adding some grit to go along with a mountain of young talent. Grier is being aggressive as he should.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 15:48 pm Change of scenery will do wonders for Nurse. I like that move for the Sharks actually. I’ve never liked Nurse. Constant bonehead plays on top of that contract…no thanks.

Agreed. In the salary cap era, you can have a bad contract or a bad player, but when you have both wrapped up in the same package it hurts more. He may be a good teammate, but he just isn't a good defenseman.

Why would the futures have to be "low level"?TheJackBurton wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 11:03 amVegas can't take on salary. The return will be low level prospects or low level players making league minimum. VGK - extended Lauzon for 6 years @ $4.0m. They have $3.375m (pre-LTIR) of space left to fill 7 roster spots. Somebody will get traded.

Grier has done an amazing job so far. Now the real test comes. It's easy when you have a string of good draft picks (see EDM and TOR), now he has to put together a team that can win.
He's not afraid to take some chances, that's for sure.

Would you as a GM give up anything of significance when you know they have to shed salary in order to become cap compliant?skilles wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 16:01 pmWhy would the futures have to be "low level"?TheJackBurton wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 11:03 amVegas can't take on salary. lol well yes I'd still have to outbid the other teams. Teams are trying to get better so I'd pay the same for a player I wanted from Vegas as I would any other team to make my team better and I'd be bidding against other team so it has zero to do with Vegas having to move the player.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 16:21 pmWould you as a GM give up anything of significance when you know they have to shed salary in order to become cap compliant?skilles wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 16:01 pmWhy would the futures have to be "low level"?TheJackBurton wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 11:03 amVegas can't take on salary. That is how the market works.

ok Vegas is already 5 million over the cap. they still have to sign 6 more players to actually ice a full team.skilles wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 16:55 pmlol well yes I'd still have to outbid the other teams. If you are going to give them anything of substance to help bail them out well then, would you like to buy a car, slightly used.
