The hate on Nurse is similar to Kyrou in my opinion, meaning it’s all about the contract. He’ll be a good addition on that team. And between Marchment, Nurse, Sherwood, Goodrow and Trouba, they are adding some grit to go along with a mountain of young talent. Grier is being aggressive as he should.

Agreed. In the salary cap era, you can have a bad contract or a bad player, but when you have both wrapped up in the same package it hurts more. He may be a good teammate, but he just isn't a good defenseman.

VGK - extended Lauzon for 6 years @ $4.0m. They have $3.375m (pre-LTIR) of space left to fill 7 roster spots. Somebody will get traded.

My bad on VGK....just looked at PuckPedia and they already have plans to LTIR both Petro and Karlsson (wrist).

They can only go 10% over the cap in the off season and have to be cap compliant on opening night. Karlsson isn't going to be on LTIR all season. They will absolutely have to deal some more players and I would imagine someone is going to get Hertl or barby for basically nothing.

Why would they get them for nothing?

Vegas can't take on salary. The return will be low level prospects or low level players making league minimum. Not literal nothing thus the qualifier "basically"

Why would the futures have to be "low level"?

Grier has done an amazing job so far. Now the real test comes. It's easy when you have a string of good draft picks (see EDM and TOR), now he has to put together a team that can win.

He's not afraid to take some chances, that's for sure.

lol well yes I'd still have to outbid the other teams. Teams are trying to get better so I'd pay the same for a player I wanted from Vegas as I would any other team to make my team better and I'd be bidding against other team so it has zero to do with Vegas having to move the player.
