Bingo. Someone got what I was saying. Just because Army holds him in a higher regard doesn’t automatically mean other GMs see Thomas in a whole tier lower. It could also absolutely mean they still see RT as a 1C but a bit lesser of one OR they see RT at the same caliber Army does but simply disagree with what his trade value is.Army's Mom wrote: ↑13 May 2026 22:30 pmEasy. Hypothetically, we think he's the 5th best 1C in rhe League. Everyone else thinks he's somewhere between 10 and 15 overall.Rollin' on the River wrote: ↑13 May 2026 22:18 pmHow does it not?STL fan in MN wrote: ↑13 May 2026 21:53 pmOk. Those words are right from Armstrong’s mouth.
We value him more than other teams, but they still view him as a 1C.
If he's a 3C, you should have NO PROBLEM naming 60 centers you'd rather have. I'll settle for half that.
Time to show your work.
But also, that comment from Army was clearly meant to basically say “we’re not trading Thomas”. I wouldn’t read a whole lot more into it than that.

Re: Kyrou trade speculation to ottawa
Over the last three years Thomas is 231 pts in 216 GP which puts him right there around 10th overall production by Center in the NHL. Hes been a bit dinged up but 1.07 p/gp is also about 10th in the NHL over the span of 23'-24' thru 25'-26'.
So this is exactly how i would view Thomas as a #1 center in the next group down from star centers. I would also add that it would not shock me to see Thomas go off for a big season if the #1 line were to continue to produce but he has to stay on the ice to do this

No, it’s a great idea, just stated wrong. Thomas is a #1 center, but if you could find someone even better to move him down to 2C, that’d be great.sdaltons wrote: ↑13 May 2026 21:01 pmWell that's the dumbest thing I've read todayRollin' on the River wrote: ↑13 May 2026 20:25 pmOr you find a team with 2 number ones and move Thomas to the 2nd line where he actually belongs.
Of course if we can’t find an available 2C, we’re sure not going to find a 1C, but it’s nice in theory.

The thread has turned into a pretty and petty ridiculous "argument" over a valued player that is just not a problem, on the contrary.
Blues need another strong center they don't need a better center than Robert Thomas in any reasonable scheme of things.

and I already NAMED the teams last week.
I mean looking at line combos, he’s easily a 2C on a lot of teams. He’d be a winger on Buffalo. He’s not better than Tage Thompson, Konsta Helenius, or Josh Norris.

Is Brayden Point truly better? Both he and Thomas played the same amount of games, and you could easily argue the Bolts are more loaded than the Blues, yet Point put up just 50 points on a 106 point team and Thomas came in w/a PPG on an 87 point team.noted wrote: ↑14 May 2026 08:27 amNashville? Only reply ive read so far, but it sums up my first take too. Gettin Yakky here to play with Snuggy, Holly, etc. is a wet dream Im afraid is just too much fantasyland, and while Hensler is definitely more plausible, he’s a plain jane player who does most things ok but nothing great, and its all for naught anyhoo since Special K would just invoke his good ol’ F U clause even if the two sides could come to an agreement.
Awesome thought tho. Jiricek, Mailloux and Yak on our backend? HEAVENS TO BETSY, as Grandma used to say

Good ole rollin is back to the point in his posting lifecycle where we are getting closer to his next meltdown, forum apology, ban or all of the above. For those of us who have been here as long as he has this stuff is like clockwork.
For a bit of posting recently he was being all deferential to other posters, open to other ideas etc. Clearly he was warned by the mods, for the 8 billionth time, to calm down. He calmed for a minute. And now? Back to his intentional horrible trolling takes "Thomas would be the 3rd line center on many teams, holloway is horrible, broberg blah blah blah etc etc" and back to fighting and bickering with just about the entire board in every freaking thread. The guy clearly gets off being contrarian because, tight life and all.
We've all seen this movie many times. Soon he's going to get banned again or we are going to see an apology post from him (I think we are at 3 or 4 of these historically) telling the board he will be a better person etc.
These goofs are nothing if not consistent.
