Oddly, the only place I hear negative reviews of Oli and calls for his firing are from this forum (and probably X if I read comments) and, with all due respect, none of you are close enough to the team to know your head from your backside.

I'm also reminded that this same forum collectively called for the firing of every manager employed during its existence. I have no doubt the beloved and saintly Whitey also would have experience regular calls for his firing if this forum was around then but everything looks better (or less worse) with the passage of time.

I hear it in church, on the sidewalk, anywhere I meet Cardinal fans. They have no use for Oli or the sloppy job he has done as manager.

He should have to earn an extension. He has not done that yet.

Not an Oli fan, but not opposed to him earning an extension if he starts living up to that reputation of being good with developing young players. I don’t think he’s proven that yet, so he needs to prove something of value before being handed an extension. Same as it goes for the players.

The Marmot does not have a "reputation of being good with developing young players".
That is pure propaganda that was used to justify hiring him and then retaining him.
He has a proven track record at being brutally bad with young players over the past 4 seasons.

That’s not what it was. He saw when we could get more value in trade than in production from JD Drew and Colby Rasmus , had his GM sell high, and won 2 rings and 3 pennants with the returns.

He knew what he needed and could properly evaluate when a young player was not going to “get there” and wasn’t afraid to ask for exactly what Was needed instead. Elite talent evaluation compared to what we’ve seen the past several years.

Too many injuries or complete incompetence by the manager are the only 2 factors which would prevent it.

The organization has the necessary talent to post a winning record in 2026 at the MLB level.
