I hear it in church, on the sidewalk, anywhere I meet Cardinal fans. They have no use for Oli or the sloppy job he has done as manager.General wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 15:53 pm Oddly, the only place I hear negative reviews of Oli and calls for his firing are from this forum (and probably X if I read comments) and, with all due respect, none of you are close enough to the team to know your head from your backside.
I'm also reminded that this same forum collectively called for the firing of every manager employed during its existence. I have no doubt the beloved and saintly Whitey also would have experience regular calls for his firing if this forum was around then but everything looks better (or less worse) with the passage of time.
Jim Hayes , Kyle Gibson, & Lance Lynn discuss if Oli deserves an extension ?

That’s not what it was. He saw when we could get more value in trade than in production from JD Drew and Colby Rasmus , had his GM sell high, and won 2 rings and 3 pennants with the returns.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 03:46 amI remember La Russa not being able to deal with young players.Melville wrote: ↑18 Feb 2026 22:52 pmThe Marmot does not have a "reputation of being good with developing young players".CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑18 Feb 2026 22:09 pmNot an Oli fan, but not opposed to him earning an extension if he starts living up to that reputation of being good with developing young players. I don’t think he’s proven that yet, so he needs to prove something of value before being handed an extension. Same as it goes for the players.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 14:58 pm He should have to earn an extension. He has not done that yet.
That is pure propaganda that was used to justify hiring him and then retaining him.
He has a proven track record at being brutally bad with young players over the past 4 seasons.
He knew what he needed and could properly evaluate when a young player was not going to “get there” and wasn’t afraid to ask for exactly what Was needed instead. Elite talent evaluation compared to what we’ve seen the past several years.

The organization has the necessary talent to post a winning record in 2026 at the MLB level.dugoutrex wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 15:07 pmnope - this 69 - 93 record won't be Oli's fault - it'll be 100% on BloomyMelville wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 13:16 pmZero excuse for the team to not have a winning record. Hopefully, Bloom possesses the strength and integrity to fire The Marmot sometime before the 60-game mark if the team is under .500.
Too many injuries or complete incompetence by the manager are the only 2 factors which would prevent it.
Zero question.
Bloom, even with a couple of mistakes, has done his job to improve the team.
The Marmot will now fail again at his own job.

I took a survey in the bar tonight. 9 out of 10 like Marmol.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 15:35 pmI hear it in church, on the sidewalk, anywhere I meet Cardinal fans. Makes perfect sense.
A room full of drunks is about the only place to find 9 people who approve of The Marmot.
