I'll post again when someone finally begins the thread on projected record for the Cardinals for the 2026 season, but I predict that they will win 72 games. That was my pick for last year, and I was off a little. Therefore, I am using that number this year since I don't think that they will do as well as they did last year.

Prior to the 2025 season PECOTA has this projections for the NL Central race .
Cubs outdistancing the Brewers 91 to 81 winning by 10 games. This was their summary comment :
Cubs: Chicago isn't a perfect team by any stretch, but it's likely the most complete NL Central club. That should be enough to get the franchise back to the top of this division.
Brewers: Milwaukee kept its recent run of success going with a shocking division title in 2024. But after losing Willy Adames and trading Devin Williams, it's fair to think its luck may finally be running out.on them.
The final wins in 2025 was Brewers 97 wins and Cubs with 92 . So a 10 game projection favoring the Cubs ended in the Brewers winning by 5 games.. a 16 game swing in the PECOTA .
Oh well !
Many here might recall those years where a successful season came down to whether the Cardinals beat the Cubs in their series and in the standings. I don't believe we can even hope for that.
