Change is indeed inevitable.

Good change is good. Bad change is bad.

Dumping JK and Pang was bad change.

Getting an unexpected $1000 check in the mail is good change. Being told you have terminal cancer is bad change.

Having worked in corporations where management consultants said “change is good” or “change is inevitable” it was generally a sign that big layoffs were right around the corner.
Panger wasn’t dumped, he left because of the uncertainty of what was going to happen with FSMW.
You’re right. Pang wasn’t dumped. My apologies.
Bad choice of words on my part in lumping him into the same sentence as Kelly.

I usually have the game going on one tablet and something else on another tablet so I only catch snippets of the game.

last night I caught the 1st 2 periods with sound, so got to hear the broadcast. is that how they usually sound?

if so.. I found nothing unusual about the broadcast. seems to be a bunch of nothing but kvetching to be kvetching. Kerbs and Joey were fine

Why not just let them handle this game?
Yuck! Not a fan of Kerbs /Vitale yet but willing to give them a try. I thought Rivers was the worst “analyst” in Blues history. Totally unvarnished homer who added nothing

I thought Kerbs was ok yesterday. Vitale had some moments where his commentary descended into unintelligible gibberish but overall the broadcast was OK. I'd give Kerbs a B+ and Vitale a C-.

They went on for about 2-3 minutes about some town in California being the garlic capital of the world and then multiple garlic tangents and my wife (not really even playing attention to the game) looks up from her phone, looks at me and says, are they still talking about garlic?? I just had to shake my head and say yeah…

Otherwise, it was a decent broadcast. Vitale just gets distracted by too many squirrels.

the most hilarious thing about that tangent is as soon as he said Gilroy I also started thinking about the entire garlic razzamatazz that town does

by agreeing with Joey's mom's knowledge, I was hoist by my own petard

The simulcast thing has to be difficult.

Two different audiences listening for different things in the broadcast.

They both kind of go back and forth on play descriptions because of it.

But fans should know the situation and just take the information as it comes and not nitpick.

Just an example is Kerber's energy level is justifiably higher than a normal screen broadcast because it's elevated when doing radio to make up for not having the attention of a visual. He shouldn't have to change that.

If they can limit the Brad Thompson like banter on the Cardinal games they should be just fine.

Kerber and Vitale bring a refreshing amount of energy, but, I agree about the garlic distraction. That kind of story would have been perfect for baseball radio before the pitch clock, when there was dead time.

I had NO idea they were talking about a garlic capital city. Frankly, if Vitale wasn't talking about the game I was mentally tuning him out.

Listening on the radio feed, only thing different to me is when they describe replays.

Can we just pay vitale to walk away?

Better yet, send him and Kermit to Chicago for a bag of pucks and don’t look back.

Would I much rather have Kelly and Pang, hell yes!!! by a mile. now we just have a duo that blends in with the rest of the so so broadcasters. At least they are not as bad as Colorado, Washington. They totally make my skin crawl....

bgwinn01 wrote: 09 Oct 2025 21:25 pm Disagree. I thought they were fine. I will always say JK was one of the best. But this duo works too. If you think these guys are bad, apparently you haven’t listened to many other teams’ broadcasts.
It's just complete bias by those who say they are bad. I listen to plenty of other broadcasts on Sirius XM and there are many others who are worse. But there's so much subjectivity when it comes to announcers, there will always be those who don't like the broadcast team. Hell, there are those who can't stand JK (I'm not one of them), so who knows.

I got the Blues feed when I was able to start watching. Our boys are …clownish. They slap themselves on the back and love to yuck it up. It’s like frat boys.
It didn’t bother me that much until the feed died just into the third period, and on ESPN, if you start watching delayed you must finish by the time the live feed ends or you are left hanging until it becomes available on demand. Well, the On Demand replay had the Vancouver feed. Boy, was that a treat after the clowns. The entire presentation was more focused and the broadcasters were sharp and locked into every bit of flow and trends in play, and were sophisticated and passionate with wondrous enunciation.

We used to have guys a lot more like that.
