Ricardo Velez issued his 4th walk to start the top of the 5th and then allowed a 2-run HR to Romeo Sanabria. Springfield leads 7-3
Later in the inning Velez allowed a double and then an RBI single. Springfield leads 7-4
I blame 82birds for this.

Chen-Wei Lin ~ 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 1 HR
Ricardo Velez ~ 2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 4 BB, 2 K, 1 HR...reliable all year, has Velez hit a wall? Good to know if he has, going into the playoffs and all. Watson, Love and Gastelum should be your backend of the BP nonetheless.
Bryan Torres ~ 3-4, 3 Singles, Run, RBI, K
Blaze Jordan ~ 1-4, Double, K
Matt Koperniak ~ 1-3, Single, RBI, SF, K.
Gavin Collins ~ 1-4, Single, Run.
Cesar Prieto ~ 0-4, 4 K....Golden Sombrero tonight.

I know Torres is no youngster, and is small in stature, but come on! All this guy does is get on base, and play several defensive positions! The Cardinals would rather bring in guys like Hampson, than give this guy a chance. I just don’t get it!

I hope he gets a shot somewhere. Scrappy guy. And he's always on base...at least for this organization....2 years. He could've been the Texas League MVP. They gave it to Crooks III last year (deserved), but Torres was just as good.

Wouldn’t it be nice to replace one of our guys who have an OB% below .300, with a player who gets on base at near .430? Oh wait, he doesnt hit many home runs, what was I thinking!
Fermin is out of options, I believe. Torres seems like he could get the Fermin role. Fermin also hits in AAA and it finally translated to MLB in a very small sample size in 2025.
The team needs a LH infielder (Torres) and a RH outfielder.
Perhaps Torres can be effective in MLB especially against RHP.
