My guess is that they will sign a free agent SP... not for big money, though.
They may wheel and deal to swap out guys like Walker and Gorman, too.

Some Memphis relief pitchers are gettin' excited.
Might need to travel to San Diego tomorrow.
King to IL --> Graceffo
Helsley --> Granillo?
Matz --> Mosqueda?
Maton --> Fernandez?
Kinda figured we'd get a AAA/AAAA lefty somewhere. Matz is gone, King sucks and is hurt, and Romero might be packing his bags.
O'Brien can bring it at 100 MPH. Maybe draw the connection from Helsley there.
Zach Thompson is coming of the IL. If he gets healthy and effective out of the pen, could replace Matz. I don't know much about Mosqueda.
I think O'Brien probably takes the 9th now. But I don't rule out Graceffo. There were rumblings that he might be the heir apparent. Lots of parallels between him and Helsley.
Yep. And I forgot about Graceffo. They'll be able to figure out the bullpen.
They said really like Graceffo as a back end of the rotation option. Lehay would be an interesting option also since he pitches you a lot and can go multiple innings maybe coming into the eighth if there’s trouble and pitch the rest of it and the ninth. Cards have some really good late inning potentials And with helsley gone the auditions for next years closer are underway
They need a 5th and 6th SP next year. Graceffo / Leahy could be it when stretched out.
CT will freak when there are no FA signings again this off season. The bloom will go off the Bloom.
Any free agent signings will be along the Gibson and Lynn signings in my opinion add a starter on one year contracts. I just don’t see them sign any free agents to long term contracts with the work stoppage in 2027 coming. I think bloom will make some trades to clear out some of the clutter and create a spot for JJ

Wonder if it will be Blaze Jordan, Bloom drafted him and was said to be a favorite player.
He’s had a good year this year. Hitting .304 with a .494 SLG% in AA/AAA. Don’t know that we could get him for Matz though.
Seriously? For what we got for Helsley! We will get nothing near as good as this guy!
lol. Ok.

For a guy named Blaze, there's no indication he runs very fast.
Yeah, that name is unfortunate. The guy is more dump truck than race car. Good pickup though. Power bats don't grow on trees.

Y'know, they could pivot right now and go get a Cease or even Alcantra, if they liked what he did against the a couple of days ago.

I like this deal
C. Bloom acquired a kid he knows well.
Blaze Jordan has some potential to be better than the suspects Mo got from the Mutts.

Wow! This makes the Helsley trade even curiouser! I’m shocked!
I’m guessing the A ball pitchers from the Helsley trade have long term upside.

I like this trade WAY better than the Mets deal. This is the approach that they should've taken for a guy like Helsley. Minor leaguer would've been fine, but one who's close and possibly blocked, like Blaze.

Fingers crossed this kid pans out.
