You do realize if the current CBA were to continue without a floor/cap/rev sharing the Dodgers, being in one of the largest and most profitable markets, aren't going to feel sorry for other teams. They'll just keep spending and winning as many championships as they can because their stock will just keep going up and up and up.

You have a false premise, assuming that spending is linked to metro size. SD is the 18th biggest metro area, behind Tampa, Minneapolis, SF, Seattle, Detroit. Miami is 5th and Phoenix is 10th. Yet somehow they have a top 5 payroll...

All owners can afford to spend. But they don't bc they know they can turn chumps like you against the big spenders instead of their own stingy owners.

Who said anything about metro size; I said market size. The Dodgers bring in more revenue than any other team in baseball and they share a lot of it so of course other teams could spend more. But because they can doesn't mean they currently have to.

Hence the need for all 3 as I originally said floor/cap/rev sharing. It's the only way to create parody in MLB.

Way past the time to fix a system where only large market teams can reasonably expect to win a championship. NFL model works. Small market teams like Kansas City, Buffalo, etc have chance of winning it all.

If it takes a lockout, strike, to fix it, grow a pair and do it. If not, I hope fans stay away in droves.

You think the Harpers of the game are holding the owners hostage to get those deals? Of course they're not, the owners willingly sign players to those contracts bc they know they can afford it. They just complain a ton about it on the back end, and during CBA negotiations, because they don't want fans to think they can afford it for everyone.

And if you don't mention a salary floor in the same breath as a salary cap, then you may be a fan of the game but you're also the exact mark that the owners depend on to keep funding their yachts.

I don’t disagree with any of that. The owners in the small and mid market teams are a big part of the problem. The revenue sharing and limited payroll make it profitable as is. They are disincentived to change.

Even though the game itself is suffering and the gap in talent grows, they are all making money. Many of them might publicly say we need a salary cap but not going to risk their existing profit structure to take a stand and lock the players out.

Time for fans in the small and mid market teams to stop buying the product. We are at the point where these fans are subsidizing a system that makes it nearly impossible for their team to win a championship. Will that happen? I’ll believe it when I see it.
