Re: Anonymous player upset with how Blues handled Nick Leddy situation
The idea that Leddy would have rather ride a bus around the east coast amd play in the minor leagues instead of play for the Sharks and get flipped to a contender that the deadline is pretty silly...
Re: Anonymous player upset with how Blues handled Nick Leddy situation
Sounds to me like said player should fire his agent for not knowing or not explaining how that worksa smell of green grass wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 09:09 am Not a day goes by that I am not amazed by the size of the PASS that Army gets on BluesTalk.
Today, a player being upset about a contract backstab is nothing but a nothing-burger.
Re: Anonymous player upset with how Blues handled Nick Leddy situation
Can you imagine being so mentally weak that this type of move for someone like Leddy gets your panties in a bunch? That this type of nothing story triggers your inner feelings to such an extent that you cry like a baby about it? I doubt Dr. Fraser Crane or Dr. Jennifer Melfi could ever help such an unstable person.DoneLurking wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 09:36 amThe pretend hill that you're dying on today is that Leddy didn't know that his no-trade clause meant he could be waived?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 09:26 amASOGG feels the players pain today.DawgDad wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 09:17 amYeah. The only thing I would add is a player shouldn't be running to Elliotte Friedman with a grievance, IF that really ever happened.Hooking wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 09:14 am Why do people get upset when:
Team + Player agree to contract.
Team executes contract.
Player upset.
I rarely ever feel bad for a player in this kind of situation. I really like Leddy too and bummed he is gone because I am a fan of the stay-at-home D-man and think it really fits the Blues style of play. However the contract is what the contract is. Now he can go get millions to play hockey in California.
Sorry but not sorry?
They thought they had a no-trade, but that is not the same as a no-move.
I thought that I was hanging with Blue Collar guys, and I'm in here with Management types.
This forum needs better trolls.

quite frankly I don't think NMC should be an option.
As Army has stated they give the player way too much power and we are seeing in this case exactly how it would.
I'm in the camp of the NTC to M-NTC and there being a compromise in place to satisfy the team and player including terminating the contract.
That being said, I'm quite glad that a lot of the top teams have 8 or more players with NMC and when those legs start to slow down they will all be as bad as expansion teams used to be.

Yea, I’d much prefer the Blues take a cue from the Cardinals and just keep veterans they no longer need or want on their roster endlessly. Leddy deserved the Miles Mikolas role of “guy who keeps starting because he signed a contract”.
Never mind that the contract he signed said he could be waived. The best teams never make calculating moves like this, they always place the individual ahead of the team.

Tell this player and Leddy to stop crying
Players voted on this in the CBA. Blame yourself for the rule. And if there is a no trade/no movement, there also has to be a ying to its yang.

Every GM in every sport makes moves like this all the time. It's the business side of sports, and I would think most people understand that. Even in the "real world" people lose their jobs all the time, and walk in the door of any business and it's not hard to find a disgruntled current (or former) employee. No disrespect to Leddy, and I wish him well, but I wouldn't imagine anyone in the locker room is really worked up about this.
Re: Anonymous player upset with how Blues handled Nick Leddy situation
The difference between NTC and NMC IS the waivers (and expansion drafts). It's allowable in the CBA and has been used by NYR twice in the last year (Goodrow and Trouba). If they don't want that to happen, get a NMC. It's available to you.

Krug or Faulk would be my guess. Who cares? Army's on his way out im sure he doesn't mind if he ruffles some feathers on his way.

I'm just making sure that BluesTalkers don't lose sight of the fact that this is the players talking. Leddy is gone, and he may not even care that much. But there are a lot of guys in the locker room that are now asking their agents to read all the fine print in their contracts. Just relying on what Army tells you is not the whole story.Nublues69 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 08:51 amSmellyass its a business first is that way for all teams. It's business first around here, guys, and I got into the business first. You're last. You get the short leash, the shaft, and the blame.
So just when the "team culture" was up-ticking in the locker room, Army takes a pee on one of the lockers.
Sheesh, this is precisely the kind of thing that underlies my view on anonymous sources (see my post above).
F Eddie Shore. We’re the CHIEFS.
Puttin’ on the foil, Coach.

In fairness it doesn’t sound like Leddy is crying. It seems he understands why it happened and has accepted it from what I have seen.AtillaTheBlue1 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 16:16 pm Tell this player and Leddy to stop crying
