In the video clip, a nice play by Church in CF, aggressively charging the ball and throwing the runner out at the plate. By the way, I appreciate the kind words from sikeston bulldog2 and Melville. Two very respectful posters on CT. The forum could use more of their class. There is way too much petulance by too many on CT.

Shady wrote: 06 Jun 2025 21:31 pm Church, at 24, is coming on strong. He's also a fine CF.
Too many threads started. Take a break.
Yes PLEASE give it a rest!
It's Shady's way or the highway. A hundred poster's can beg & plead while other message boards kick him off...but he has no intention of changing.

It's why his wife & kid ran away from him!
Look I’m passionate about Cardinal baseball but it’s still a game.
I have no idea what his personal issues are?
And I have responded positively in a number of his threads.
But it does seem that with a LITTLE effort he could make some adjustments to suit the forum???
He refuses to make ANY efforts. He likes to pretend he's fine and everyone else has a problem.
Here’s the real problem. If the board ignored the attention-starved butthole, then he’d go away. Those of you who don’t are just as bad as he is and get what you deserve. Like moths to a flame. You respond to him as though he’s legitimate and complain because he’s not. What kind of idiot edits two sentences 4 times?

hugeCardfan wrote: 07 Jun 2025 12:46 pm I do agree that shady starts too many threads. I would imagine there is compulsion involved. Still, I don't understand why a topic like this one needs to be more about shady than Church. Why is that?

Church is interesting to me. He can play baseball and has tools. He can hit line drives all day and makes great contact. Has been known for his hitting despite a lack of sheer power. What has become interesting is his defense. He roams the outfield, makes really good plays and his arm in dead on. Taking an extra base on him is problematic. I don't care much about his size unless we intend to start him at 1B.

I admit that if the subject doesn't interest me, I tend to stay away from shady's posts. But, Church intrigues me. I caution folks not to hate on Church on account of shady. I think we will see him in St Louis. While Scott is our CF'er, Church can spell him. Though Church is a LH hitter, as is Scott, his splits for average are good vs LH pitchers.

I really think folks who are aggravated by shady should stay away from his posts. It's healthier for all concerned.

I don't watch minor league baseball as often as duce, but, I do quite a bit. I spend time in Springfield and Peoria. I've seen quite a bit of Church and he is good enough to reach St Louis. I am sure of it.
Correct.
The topic is of good quality.
Who started the topic is of no relevance.
Quality conversation for those capable of making it so.
Agree with you that the track record he has established so far, Church is interesting.
By the way, some folks who dismiss a #21 ranked prospect such as Church, should take note that in 2021 Pallante was the 26th ranked prospect in the system, Burleson was #29, Pages was #40, and Donovan was #50.

As you've noted. Ratings can be deceiving. Ex. How can Hence be rated higher than Roby, right now?

Yep. When I watched Pages in Peoria, I thought he had a puncher's shot at the Bigs. He was a pretty good catcher but not terribly attractive with his hitting. Then he would hit one out of Dozier Park...the hardest hit of the day. Pages persevered. I suspect that Church will too.

I only listen to games on radio - does Scott look as bad as it sounds on radio at the plate?

That’s wrong, sorry. I follow the minor leagues in detail. He a small outfielder with little power. Dime a dozen player. He’s not a fit for a corner and we already have a centerfielder.

Sure. That makes sense.

But...

Do you ignore telemarketers or put yourself on a no-call list?
Do you ignore door to door salesmen or put a "no soliciting " sign up?
Do you ignore junk e-mails or do you have them sent straight to a spam folder?

Ignoring Shady doesn't fix the problem of him spamming this board. He is relentless and has no shame.

Come on.... What compels you to open a "shady" thread? What forces you to respond with an insult? It makes no sense to me. That is tantamount to answering a call clearly marked SPAM, and chewing out whoever is on the line.

I'm not dismissing him; I've admitted I know little to nothing about him.

But this I know for certain...Marshall knows nothing as well. He's never seen him play.

And the fun part? A few weeks ago Marshall was asking if Scott was better than Brock. Today he's ready to hand the CF job to an 11th round pick who turns 25 in July and has a .719 OPS in 1175 minor league ABs.

I hope the kid becomes a superstar...but the odds are stacked against him, are they not?
