Maybe you could start a thread once in a while. Quit being a lurker.
Don’t need to start a thread a day. You have too much ego going, Shady.
Shady?
Ego?
Not so.
Now, let's go to Church.

Oh great, now a 2nd ego problem poser enters the fray.
Ding ding ding....we have a winner.
Those two need need to set up a meet and greet with other trolls and make tin foil hats together.

Someone has to start them.
Why not Shady?
And, he raises a fair question.

Some people start way too threads, looking for recognition.
The recognition/attention seeking accusation is simply not true. But, I'll admit, I do start too many threads. I'll try to cut back.
Gee, it’s not like you’ve said the same thing 50 times before…

Same old shtick. Over and over and over again.

Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

In the video clip, a nice play by Church in CF, aggressively charging the ball and throwing the runner out at the plate. By the way, I appreciate the kind words from sikeston bulldog2 and Melville. Two very respectful posters on CT. The forum could use more of their class. There is way too much petulance by too many on CT.
Your innocent victim act is well beyond tiresome. You had multiple handles banned from Cardinal Nation due to your deviant behavior. If you want respect treat the rest of the board with respect. It's that simple.

The number of times you've said, "I see things others don't" tells a far different story, but no one here is surprised you'd try to lie about it.

Honest question: Is Church a ‘fine CFer,’ as Shady stated? I don’t know and doubt Shady knows. I wish Church the best, but he only has 63 of 255 starts in CF. I don’t know….that tells me he’s not a legit CFer.

Church has been great through about 35 games this year, with a .900 ops. A .943 ops in AA. If the cards demoted Scott to AA today, he would probably have an .825-.860 ops in AA.

If Shady wants to champion Church, fine. But to compare an AA player w an MLBer having a solid season. It’s a little bush league.
Church has started in center field the last two games for Memphis. He's a fine player, offensively and defensively. His BA is at .364.

I'm guessing 98% of this board have never seen Church play and that includes Marshall. Marshall will see a box score, then note a guy with three hits, and begin the player's Canton bust. He'll immediately want the player on the Cardinals. Wash, rinse, repeat.

So who knows? Church seems like a middling prospect and as such, I know very little about him.
Pardon, Monsieur? A bust in Canton? Is this Church guy going into the NFL HOF as well as Cooperstown?

Church is a small, left handed hitting outfielder with no power. Not what the big club needs. Or will probably ever need.

You’ve never even seen him play, and didn’t know who he was until a couple days ago.

Yes...he had a nice game and Marshall wants him on the Cards and starting ahead of Scott & Noot...additionally, he has heard Church played high school football and is working on his bust for Canton.

Marshall can multi-task.

I do agree that shady starts too many threads. I would imagine there is compulsion involved. Still, I don't understand why a topic like this one needs to be more about shady than Church. Why is that?

Church is interesting to me. He can play baseball and has tools. He can hit line drives all day and makes great contact. Has been known for his hitting despite a lack of sheer power. What has become interesting is his defense. He roams the outfield, makes really good plays and his arm in dead on. Taking an extra base on him is problematic. I don't care much about his size unless we intend to start him at 1B.

I admit that if the subject doesn't interest me, I tend to stay away from shady's posts. But, Church intrigues me. I caution folks not to hate on Church on account of shady. I think we will see him in St Louis. While Scott is our CF'er, Church can spell him. Though Church is a LH hitter, as is Scott, his splits for average are good vs LH pitchers.

I really think folks who are aggravated by shady should stay away from his posts. It's healthier for all concerned.

I don't watch minor league baseball as often as duce, but, I do quite a bit. I spend time in Springfield and Peoria. I've seen quite a bit of Church and he is good enough to reach St Louis. I am sure of it.

Good points
I commented earlier that I know almost nothing about him.
The prospect list I saw had him at #21 with an ETA of sometime in 2026.
His stats so far this season look very good.
I’ll be keeping an eye on him.
That being said if this proves to be a “breakout” season for him then he certainly could be a factor come ST 2026.
Until then let him develop.
