Well they probably won't. His salary vs production is not bad at all.

He is on a decline. Very doubtful he produces 21-32-59 at ages 35-36.

He likely isn't a top 6 anymore, likely bottom 6. Having them retain a mil for 2 seasons isn't much and gets them a better draft pick or a better prospect.

Why in the world would you want to give up a better pick/prospect?
