I fully expect the Blues to ink this guy to a deal. Fits a need and he'll be affordable.
Which need exactly?
Toughness. 200 hits, 15 goals, 35 points. Willing to drop the gloves and fight. Won't cost a lot. Sold
Other places of need to spend our money on first.
He replaces Faksa at the same or less price. Adding toughness to this team is a high priority.
If you’re replacing Faska, why not just keep Faksa? As others stated, he’s not really a center so he doesn’t replace him
Yeah but Faksa's past his prime. If you get Frederic at a nice price, it'd be an upgrade. Kid is entering his prime and like I said, he'll drop the gloves. You could see the Blues in this playoff series, they tried to be physical and that's a huge credit to Coach Monty in getting these guys on board. But this team isn't quite built yet to be a physical team, especially for 4 playoff rounds.
You keep ignoring that Frederic doesn’t actually play C though. So he wouldn’t even be able to replace Faksa.
On the Blues Frederic could very well play 3rd or 4th center but the inability to win FOs is a large issue that i didnt really know. Blues already are just ok seemingly in the FO circle the Blues seem to lose important FOs a lot. So......

Faksa can also kill penalties, I don’t know if Frederic was ever used on pk

People will call me crazy but I'm still looking at ROR
4.5 million for the next two seasons, which will make his age 2,112.
Pass!
I think maybe you are overestimating what you get for 4.5 million in 2025
I'd want nashville to retain some.
Well they probably won't. His salary vs production is not bad at all, you would probably have to give up more to get retention and that would be pretty silly. I lots rather give up less without retention.

He is on a decline. Very doubtful he produces 21-32-59 at ages 35-36.
He likely isn't a top 6 anymore, likely bottom 6. Having them retain a mil for 2 seasons isn't much and gets them a better draft pick or a better prospect.

Why in the world would you want to give up a better pick/prospect?

Nashville doesn't have to trade him, they have plenty of cap space. If they trade him it won't be for a bag of pucks, it will take a somewhat decent package. If you are already having to trade something decent, might as well slightly improve the package to get a little cap room.

Yeah I would disagree with that.
What is the difference between your #15 prospect and your #13 prospect?

They won't retain for either one of those options.
