I don't see VSII being a comp to L. Brock, and c'mon whoever said R. Henderson.
Brock is/was a way better hitter (3,000+ hits) and base stealer, Henderson is the G.O.A.T. among speedsters w/both power & speed.
We don't know Scott's ceiling yet but (IMO) it won't come close to those two.
I said Ricky. Reference bigger stronger type body. If he gets on base 150 times per year, that’s could equate to 100 SB if they really ran.
Would take a commitment to the steal. What better time to do it.
Ricky, as he was happy to tells us, was the G.O.A.T. and (IMO) VSII isn't close to Rickey level, or Brocks.
Your correct. But one has to set their goals lofty.

If he can stay in the .330+ OB% range, then he could swipe 60-80 bases and be a huge asset!
The future looks bright, he's a smart kid.

Interesting discussion especially with those of Lou Brock .. Some say no comparison since Brock had 3000 hits etc.
So I thought a better way to see how Scott currently compares to Brock is to compare what they each did at similar age
In 1962, when Brock was age 23 with Cubs , he batted .263 playing in 123 games . He stole 16 bases and got caught 7 times
Scott is 24 this year .. he currently is hitting .275 with 8 stolen bases .. caught Zero times
Brock at age 24 .. in 148 games batting .258 stole 24 for the year and was caught 12 times.
Too early in season to see if Scott will maintain his current avg. or bat more than the .258 Brock did when he was 24 . Barring injuries though,
Scott will certainly surpass Brock's 24 SB by quite a bit . His caught stealing for the season may also be fewer than Brocks 12 times .
I was 16 when Cardinals acquired him in 1964 . Remember Brock as a subpar defensive OF . He was playing in LF when Cardnals acquired him that year. Scott's defense is ahead of Brocks at same age .
For those not old enough to remember Brock defensively early in his career , here is report :
Early in his career with the Chicago Cubs, Lou Brock was primarily known as a center fielder and later played in left field, but he was not considered a strong defensive player. His batting average also struggled, hitting around .260 in his first two seasons. The Cubs ultimately traded him to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964 due to his lack of development.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Defense:
Brock wasn't known for his fielding abilities, and his defensive performance was often considered poor.
In similar age, Scott would be the better defender . More on Brock in his first two seasons
Also ..Batting:
His batting average in his first two seasons with the Cubs was around .260, which was not considered strong.
Base Stealing:
While he was known for his speed and base-stealing abilities, his impact as a fielder and batter wasn't enough to keep him on the Cubs roster.

Scott with Brock as a comp is ridiculous!
I'm thinking he's more like Ty Cobb or Max Carey! lol

Needs to be an AS to achieve my stud status. Needs 1.5 hits per game to hit.300.
One bunt.

Good morning.
How good will he be. He is really figured out hitting, added to his stellar defense and base stealing, we have a shot at a good to great center fielder.
His stat line last two games is elite ish. Shots down the line, to opposite field doubles.
I see him leading league in doubles and triples one year. Has that ever happened.
Has Scott emerged.
In spring training, I alluded to the fact that Scott deserved as much leeway as Walker and Gorman.
I see him emerging as a team leader. We needed that especially from the youth side of the clubhouse.
Gang- this is exactly what the reset was intended to do- let young play, see who can. So far several bright spots.
Do you see a possible Scott/Brock comp?
Stop it.
He's not Lou Brock.
Yepez is not Pujols.
Burly is not Votto or Gwynn.
You need to chill a little. Let some others have some fun with hopeful comps without your ridicule. So what if somebody is wrong about a baseball projection? This ain't cancer, nuclear war, etc.
You made a comp of Burleson to Tony Gwynn, one of the most pure hitters in the history of the sport? yikes

Victor can do a lot of things but he can't throw a lick.
Opponents will take the extra base without even hesitating.
But in this lineup as it is with his offense you just have to live with it.

I saw him throw the other day and thought he made a strong throw. Where does he get in trouble? Balls to the gaps?

Runner don't even hesitate taking the extra base.

I have.
I like him for his offense/potential but his arm isn't going to deter many baserunners.

Too bad. I thought he threw better. Lots of balls to the gaps. Not a good situation for CF.
He’s not Jon Jay bad is he?

I don’t get the votto comparison either. Votto had power and averaged 108 walks per season. Burleson has zero power and it would take him 3 full seasons to get 108 walks
