How good is Victor Scott

Post by sikeston bulldog2 »

Good morning.

How good will he be. He is really figured out hitting, added to his stellar defense and base stealing, we have a shot at a good to great center fielder.

His stat line last two games is elite ish. Shots down the line, to opposite field doubles.

I see him leading league in doubles and triples one year. Has that ever happened.

Has Scott emerged.

T. Cobb did it three times, H. Wagner two times and most likely others can be added to the list

Would you say it to be a noteworthy accomplishment.

Scott- .290. 5 doubles- projects to 35 ish. 1 triple projects to 7 ish.

10 runs scored and 13 rbis from the nine hole. 8/8 stolen bases.

Once you figure things out you always know them. Only thing left is execution. Scott may be a stud.

In spring training, I alluded to the fact that Scott deserved as much leeway as Walker and Gorman. Later, I posted a possible Scott/Brock comp and got roasted. LOL

I see him emerging as a team leader. We needed that especially from the youth side of the clubhouse.

Gang- this is exactly what the reset was intended to do- let young play, see who can. So far several bright spots.

It would be very rare

I can see him possibly getting the triples, the double would be rough.

E. Tovar lead the NL last season w/45 doubles.

I see Scott as bigger stronger and faster. To your point- a Brock/Scott comparison might not be enough. Sorry Lou. Maybe a Ricky Henderson comp?

Bulldog, Lou Brock led the NL in doubles and triples in 1968. If Victor Scott can do that some year we'd be very happy.

We've been burned by so many flash in the pan prospects where I'm trying to temper my optimism, but his ceiling is as high as any young player we have in the system. The thing I am most encouraged by is his exit velocity. He's not elite by any means but he's close to league average, which is encouraging for a player his size. He's no Billy Hamilton/Ben Revere with all speed and no power. He's got some strength with a frame to add more as he matures. His approach this year has been eons better than his big league stint last year. Pitchers will adjust, and we will see if he can continue making a adjustments to get to the next level. Lots to like so far.

I hear ya. But we are talking what if and can be. If Scott finds his stride, he could be one of the three studs the reset requires. A stud CF. Imagine.

Stop it.

He's not Lou Brock.
Yepez is not Pujols.
Burly is not Votto or Gwynn.

Love Scott and his potential! He's had a great week. Heck, he's had a nice season. Exceeding expectations!

I'd like to see him bunting more (for hits) and attempting more steals. I hope he's emerged, but we've seen other youngsters go through really good stretches only to falter.
Let's see how he looks by the ASB.
