To your question though - his shot looks really dangerous. The shot he had on Talbot sounded like it might go through Talbot's chest and into the goal. I think Monty has been using him wisely too. I think he's looked good. As bud white mentioned, it looks like other teams may be respecting his shot quite a bit, I think that's how Buch got so wide open on his goal in the Avalanche game.
I won't call him seasoned but he seems to be fitting right into things so kudos to him and the Blues.![]()
Funny story though. When John Davidson was GM, I happened to cut him off at a four-way stop off of 141 in Town and Country. Totally by accident. He was not happy. He said some choice things while his window was down and then drove off. I sat there in disbelief that I almost caused an accident, then realized who I (upset) off. Had to laugh after that.
I posted on here about it and the next thing I know, his daughter posts on here to pass along an apology from him. Class move even though I was totally at fault.
I think this place and HF boards absolutely get some traffic from the players. At minimum, I know there are a few former players lurking here under false names.
They probably don't post(for numerous reasons), but I think they lurk just to get a feel from the fan base.
I also know the Blues PR staff hire people to read sites like these so they know what to lean into with their marketing and merchandising and you know some of that gets passed on to the team.

Re: Snuggerud So Far
Its hard for me to imgine that he isn’t meeting my expectations for a high impact rookie player during his first few games. The only thing that concerns me a bit is his size. He looks small not height wise but muscle wise. I hope they can help him strengthen his frame in the offseason.

Re: Snuggerud So Far
I don't think it's a mystery why his hype is higher than Bolduc or others. (Particularly Bolduc who was drafted in a black box seemingly due to the covid years and whose NHL development has felt like activity under the surface of a lake that eventually emerges with force.)
The kid from Minnesota has the single sexiest tool in the hockey toolbox, a world class shot. This particular fan base remembers how fun that is with Hull & Tarasenko.
This is also three years into waiting to see it show up in the NHL to really see it make an impact.
AND fans are feeling only good about the team simultaneously, it is not a time of tempered reason. If they were in a 12 game losing streak but he looked like this, there would not be anywhere as much hype. Timing has a lot to do with it.
Due to the truly elite shot, fans reasonably and correctly think, "if the rest of his game is good, this could be a significant NHL player"
Due to the confidence he and the team are riding, it looks like he has the skills, so time will have to prove out the consistency of them. But we haven't seen him make the inevitable mistakes that are coming, it's a time of reckless projection.
It's a long awaited prospect who is genuinely exciting. If you think the hype is something now, wait til he starts picking corners from the top of the circles with laser wristers.

For whatever reason the Blues have been very careful not to overexpose Bolduc. He tore up juniors, offensively, he wasn't hiding from anybody. What we see now is the emergence of a well-rounded young hockey player at the NHL level.seattleblue wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 12:39 pm I don't think it's a mystery why his hype is higher than Bolduc or others. Thomas, Kyrou, Holloway, Neighbours, Bolduc, these guys are all blossoming into 200' trustworthy hockey players. The Blues seem to know what they are doing.
As for Snuggerud being dropped onto the top line, he's no stranger to playing top line go-to guy minutes in a winning environment. He's out there doing what he always has been doing, just at the NHL level now. He has raw talent that is holding him up in light of the adjustment to a harder, faster game. He's quick, he has plus hands and hockey sense, and he has THE SHOT. He's going to be fine. Remember Robbie Fabbri?

Re: Snuggerud So Far
Oh now I remember one other thing from the Colorado feed. They were talking about Snuggy's potential and were talking how indeed actually good he looked, like he was going to be a real player for us. But they confidently and I mean confidently said his nickname was "Snuggsy"
I would have actually probably been in tears laughing if they'd said with that much confidence it was "Snuggsy Bogues," but alas they did not
33 months and there's been a lot of fun with the variants but never once heard "Snuggsy."
(As has been pointed out elsewhere the default nickname is Snuggy)

Re: Snuggerud So Far
I totally agree. The Blues seem to be very good at understanding what Bolduc needs versus what Neighbours or Snuggerud needs or whomever needs and what they can take stress wise. I have been really amazed at how well the team seems to align opportunity to what the players needs. With Army leaving I do wonder if that is him or just who in the organization is this good at figuring out the player growth path and aligning them to that path.DawgDad wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 13:41 pmFor whatever reason the Blues have been very careful not to overexpose Bolduc. On both sides….
His Dad has a heck of a career internationally and played 265 NHL Games.
His Mom’s Old Man played in the 1964 Olympics and still plays beer league, or geritol league hockey at 88.
Jimmy Snuggerud was born to play NHL Hockey.

Re: Snuggerud So Far
No idea if the Blues operate this way, but I assume all sports teams do by this point. I know someone who worked in comms/media who started a business serving as a social media buffer for teams - the Cards have employed her firm for several years now. Basically, they have a list of social media they scour, which they then report to management. They also provide training to players to keep them from causing scandals (could you just imagine the Shanahan affair in the era of social media?), and some light PR when things do happen.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 11:58 amQuite possible...kimzey59 wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 11:51 amCool story, but I think you're wrong about this.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 11:44 amAgree. TLDR: teams follow these sites to serve as a buffer between players and the social media public.
