Torres deserves the chance to play everyday for a while.
He has settled in. No longer pressing by trying to do to much. And is using his patience and pitch recognition which helped him become one of be best AA/AAA players the last 3 years.
He has been hot recently while getting mixed mash playing time and at bats all over the place.
I believe if they start Torres basically every game versus right .handed pitchers.
He will finish the season around. 300 .375 .455 .830
Once he is given consist playing time I think his walks will go up a lot. He is still pushing to make it happen with his bat because he doesn't want to risk striking out looking when Oli might not play him for for 3 games on a row.
It's human nature to want to just get it done study with three bat.
Once he knows he will get 5-6 starts a week he can fully drop back into his style.

Torres has no future as a corner OF on this team. A bench guy, maybe. So he had better adapt to bench status or else.Frivolousz50 wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 22:36 pm Torres deserves the chance to play everyday for a while.

Isn't it about time for Noot to come down with a bizarre injury? Something stupid like a deviated septum from picking his nose.hornetfb52 wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 20:30 pm I wouldn’t count on him being traded. Bloom won’t trade him for the nothingburger it would take right now. They still need to bring up Baez though. Noot and Church in CF

Walker catches that ball. Not a problem.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 21:59 pmI could see Walker missing it, Guy!!Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 20:30 pmThat wasn't a hard catch, guy!Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 19:45 pmLet’s play “what if” and the blame game.
Granted Noot made a mental error. We all agree on that.
But what if Walker was out there? He might not catch that ball.
One can argue that Noot saved a double and the run would have scored anyway. So he actually saved the run because the next guy up got hit and that would’ve scored the guy that just hit the pretend double.
Then JJ put him back on top two to one with the home run.
I could blame Pallante for walking the batter that eventually scored to tie again.
I could blame Soriano for giving up that run that tied the game.
I could blame numerous players for not hitting with runners and scoring position. The last I looked, they were one for nine. I don’t know what they ended up with.
That’s why it’s called “what if”.
You are just making excuses for the inexcusable.
Noot had a mental lapse. Can't happen. Period. He should have been removed or reprimanded or fined. Doubt any of the latter happened either. Marmol is no leader. He is a unqualified, wanna be bro, pseudo-manager.

No, if JJ did that I would be posting the same thing. Can't happen in the Pros. Unacceptable. Regardless.of who it is, unacceptable!Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 21:55 pmExactly. If Weatherholt did it, it would not even be a discussion. So it’s not really the play that happened today it’s people’s dislike for Noot over all. I’m not a big fan of his. I’ve seen players and umpires lose track of the pitch count. So if you wanna point out other aspects of why you don’t like them like the previous poster did, that’s fine. If you think he sucks, he sucks.Bob Kunush wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 20:37 pm I saw Scott Rolen forget there was one out and not go for a double play that would have ended an inning. Instead a run scored. Then another. He owned it after the game. I have seen other very good players make a mental mistake throughout the years. Were they all clowns?

Cards4life, you make sensible statements. That doesn't fit into 1964's "What If" fantasy world. See in 1964's alternate reality, Nootbaar was the star of the game. The Cardinals really lost because the DH Walker somehow dropped the ball and Pallante gave up a single.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 22:57 pmWalker catches that ball. Stop making excuses for the clown this organization has wasted 5 years on.
Game has been over for four hours and people are still talking about a play that happened in the fourth inning. There are many things that lost that game.![]()

But there’s nothing funnier than calling someone an 8 year old and then hitting them with a penis joke. Dang my stomach hurts from laughing. Keep em coming.

Some scenarios did happen. I think he said that Pallante walked a guy that scored. Soriano did give up the run. Hitting with runners and scoring position was pretty bad.
So, if it wasn’t for the Nootbar play, people would be focusing on these other things that happened. That’s my opinion.
Thanks for the earlier laughs. Have a nice day.

I can't read it the same way. Not when he says Nootbaar saved a run. Number one, he didn't. Thats obvious. And number two, he's assuming Walker 100% doesn't catch the ball. Nothing is 100% guaranteed. Even in fantasy land.Brockfast wrote: ↑30 Jul 2026 23:59 pmThat’s where we read it differently. Monday morning qb is questioning decisions that were made and exploring how outcomes could change. Its not making bizarre and untrue statements about things that didn't occur. There is no guarantee Walker does or doesn’t make the catch. And there is no guarantee Pallante throws the same pitch sequences up 1-0 as he did tied 1-1. Second guessing is way different than making up scenarios and presenting your estimation as a true fact.
Sorry for the extra lengthy reply. Have a nice evening.

There are no excuses for not knowing how many outs there in an inning. I was surprised Caray was critical of the play and later when I listed to the recap on KMOX Rooney and Horton were also critical of his play.
You could tell it upset Pallante because immediately Blake when out to calm him down.

I'm not so sure that they do trade Nootbaar. I don't think they'll just give him away to get rid of him. And I don't think that they should just get rid of him to make room for Baez, unless they truly believe that he is ready.
