Do you believe it is possible the team would be better defensively, better offensively, and better on the bases if Baez and Scott were on the roster and part of the outfield mix - rather than Lars?

And he’s better than Church.icon wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 18:47 pmWell, he does kinda suck for a corner OF. 3 HRs and 15 RBIs in 153 PAs to go with a .714 OPS isn't exactly great while hitting MOTO.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 17:38 pmI’ll agree with that. But I keep reading how he sucks.icon wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 17:30 pmI think all that many of us are saying is that he should not be part of the future, and that's why he should be traded.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 17:23 pm Just curious. Which outfielders on the Cardinals team are better than Noot besides Walker?
Church is batting .125 with .219 slugging and .383 OPS. in July.
He’s .198 .250 .319 .569 since the start of June. He should be joining Scott 2 and Gorman in the minors.
My intent is not to pick on Church, but I wanna know who are our better outfielders than Nootbar right now?
For what it’s worth I hope they trade them too. But, me wanting a trade and me being able to tell you who our three outfielders should be is another story.

What does that make Church? I agree he is being misused. Another example of poor managing.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 19:48 pmThe biggest issue with Lars is the Cardinals are trying to make a middle of the order bat out of him, and that’s not who he is.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 19:31 pmHe does suck. Noot always works counts and usually looks to draw a walk before getting a hit, so he should be in the first two spots or the last two spots in a batting order. He’s a table setter, but isn’t being used that way. Part of the reason is Marmol’s insistence on using the LRLRLR order.
However, my reply to the other poster had more to do with his snide post.

Re: Nootbar….????!!!!
I don’t have any faith in Scott’s bat or arm. He is a better defensive CFr than Lars, but I prefer the latter’s arm and bat, though neither bat should start. Scott’s lack of stolen bases, given his speed, has been puzzling. Is it because of lack of coaching, failure to study opposing pitchers, Oli’s refusal to give him the green light or a combination?

Re: Nootbar….????!!!!
Icon clearly stated Nootbaar's numbers are weak for a corner outfielder. Church is primarily a CF now. CF is not a corner OF spot. Try reading before arguing.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 21:08 pmAnd he’s better than Church.icon wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 18:47 pmWell, he does kinda suck for a corner OF. 3 HRs and 15 RBIs in 153 PAs to go with a .714 OPS isn't exactly great while hitting MOTO.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 17:38 pmI’ll agree with that. That makes no sense.Melville wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 20:42 pmWe do agree that he cannot stay on the field.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 20:29 pm Well, most of the reason he hasn’t scored many runs is because he hasn’t been able to stay on the field. He has had his moments, but every time he has played well, he comes down with a new injury. He has played in a long streak now without an injury, but he hasn’t really gotten it going either.
I still think there are a few teams that would have interest in him, but the return on him, by himself, might not be what people are expecting.
I’d like to see him bundled with, say May or JoJo, and another piece and maximize the return, even if it’s just one player.
Of the last 753 games from 2022-2026, he is zero-for-everything in the 243 games he did not play.
243 games with no hits, no runs, no RBI, and no outs record as a defender.
And those 243 games count every bit as much in his over-all performance as those for which somehow managed to show up.

Who thinks Noot sucks but Church deserves to be on the team? I’m not saying Noot is Barry Bonds but he’s better than Church.

Re: Nootbar….????!!!!
Sure it does. 243 games (a season and a half), in which Lars Nootbaar has provided nothing. Nothing! Just multiple IL stints. Noot has been neutered!Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 21:12 pmThat makes no sense.Melville wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 20:42 pmWe do agree that he cannot stay on the field.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 20:29 pm Well, most of the reason he hasn’t scored many runs is because he hasn’t been able to stay on the field. Re: Nootbar….????!!!!
Noot should be leading off. And if L-R ditto along with pen means one and done is on Oli’s, it has to be this way, why not:
Noot
Ivan
JJ
Walker
Burly
Jordan
Crooks or DH when Ivan C
Winn
Church
I know it’s not ideal since neither of our best hitters is guaranteed to hit in the first but I’m trying to make the best of Oli world.
