anyone ever played fast pitch softball?

Yes. A lost game from old days. Ever hear of the King and his court.
Yep saw him at Ft Wood a couple of times. Pretty amazing.
Played a little fast pitch. Really liked some of it better then slow pitch. I was one of the speed guys, so fast pitch bunting and base stealling was allowed but not in slowpitch.
If any of you were on Ft Wood, I grew up just out the south gate. Close enough that out neighbors drive was was partially on Ft Wood property.

I've never played it, but i've seen a professional game in person and it was crazy intense. the guy pitching was throwing gas
how about being the 3rd baseman playing 30' from home plate.. craziness
no thanks brother
agreed... played one season (ss/catcher) and I looked over and was like...wtf.. but, if you want a chance at throwing out a bunt, that's what ya had to do... and eat a line drive once in a while lol

I played no men’s fast pitch, but I watched it. Recall many strikeouts and few hit balls.

yes.. much harder to hit. good pitchers could really chuck it and the mound was very close to home. very challenging

The King and his court. Eddie Feigner was the pitcher. Over 10,000 games pitched. 9743 games won. 141 K strikeouts, and 930 no hitters. Through 104 mph consistently.
Four man team- pitcher, catcher, first and SS/OF

Good morning.
Most here have played baseball. I am assuming that same group played or are still playing softball.
Have you ever wondered why it’s called softball? It’s the pitch delivery- soft. Compared to baseball where the pitch is thrown hard, hence hard ball.
Other than pitching, and other than stealing, I have seen steal leagues, the game is about the same.
Have you ever priced a softball bat? They take the game serious. How about a .50 core Blue dot softball. Out will fly.
Debate- I would argue that softball is much more physically dependent than baseball. In softball, every player moves on every pitch hit. Which is about every two pitches. In baseball, you stand still and wait for three outs.
Every batter hits a ball. Constant action. All rules are the same. Cut off men, double plays, tag ups, etc.
Only difference is the action. Much more in softball.
Anybody here play the game, and what are your thoughts.
A foul ball with 2 strikes is an out in slowpitch softball. I have played against the best in the world like Dirk Androff may he RIP.

My credentials? LOL My credentials and roughly $10 will get you an extra value meal at McDonalds. (When I used to say this, the meal at McDonald's was roughly $7,00) I also coached fastpitch softball. My daughter had a good college career and was an All-American. I, too, played baseball and softball at the same time and played more than 100 games a year in slow-pitch. The team I played on was ranked for 12 years and was pretty good for an area team. We got killed when we played the big dogs.

They are really good, and the guys some of us hammer on have risen above some of those that many of us think are great but didn't produce at some level. Still, I believe that there are those who are drafted who end up in the wrong farm system, where, for whatever reason, they don't advance to MLB.

Attrition. Saturation of greatness, should lead to a great product.
As a side note to levels of play. European football, soccer has 92 teams- 20 in the Premier League and 72 in the three levels below.
Teams move up and down. Again to support 92 teams goes to show the amount of greatness and it’s need for a team.

Dad started us playing at 5. First organized ball was at 8 in Cub Scouts. My first game, I caught a boy who would later be drafted twice by the Mets. He tore up his elbow in AAA. He came home after his first year, saying, "The guys there are just as good an athlete as me."
I did play some softball, but it just wasn't the same. I then played in a 48 and older league with some guys who did play professional ball. Our pitcher, who I occassionally caught, threw one inning for Detroit in '72. He still threw 85 mph with more than one wicked fastball, curve, and change up. Now that was fun.

Would you agree at tour level you say some serious talent, and wondered what they were doing here.
That’s one point here- how good 760 pro players are, verse the world of players.
I remember when Phil Gagliano retired from baseball. He then joined a semi-pro slow pitch softball team. He won the HR crown for the year.
