Yep saw him at Ft Wood a couple of times. Pretty amazing.
Played a little fast pitch. Really liked some of it better then slow pitch. I was one of the speed guys, so fast pitch bunting and base stealling was allowed but not in slowpitch.
If any of you were on Ft Wood, I grew up just out the south gate. Close enough that out neighbors drive was was partially on Ft Wood property.

Dad started us playing at 5. First organized ball was at 8 in Cub Scouts. My first game, I caught a boy who would later be drafted twice by the Mets. He tore up his elbow in AAA. He came home after his first year, saying, "The guys there are just as good an athlete as me."
I did play some softball, but it just wasn't the same. I then played in a 48 and older league with some guys who did play professional ball. Our pitcher, who I occassionally caught, threw one inning for Detroit in '72. He still threw 85 mph with more than one wicked fastball, curve, and change up. Now that was fun.

I remember when Phil Gagliano retired from baseball. He then joined a semi-pro slow pitch softball team. He won the HR crown for the year.
