If mid 20 HR’s is his norm, and CardsTalk overwhelmingly proposed an increase in power and durability (more games, to go w more energy and power) it would be within reason to think 30 HRs would be. We are talking about an increase of 5ish HRs, a totally reasonable expectation when increased power and games is what this board expected by moving from catcher to 1B.

It didn’t really increase durability, he played 135 instead of 125 games. And if you want to say it did, then it backfires on the power and production point.

It had little if nothing to do with Herrera developing as a catcher, as we saw that play out with those starts going to others and we’ve heard Chaim discuss correcting the mistake of taking away his catching time.

WC was moved to 1B bc he literally cannot catch. The hope was he’d play more games and hit more HRs and be overall more productive offensively. That did not work out. It didn’t happen. He hit 20 HRs.
