Honestly, I wouldn’t have had a big problem with that. He is no Walker or Gorman. He had years of college under his belt. I think he was ready last year. The dude came out of college hitting machine and he didn’t seem different at any point last year. Not saying he wouldn’t have struggled some, but I am willing to bet that he would’ve adjusted and ended up having a decent year for a major league debut.

I agree with JJW. He has that "it' that some others don't. I've watched his swing a lot. It has the ability to adjust, and mentally, he seems sound. I have not seen a video of him fielding, but I know that he would not have made it this far without the ability to use the glove. I am so disappointed in the Cardinals but, at the same time, I am now excited. I know that failure is in their near future but imo things are changing for the better.rockondlouie wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 08:28 amThe good news "V" is that past history was under Mo's mismanagement!Voldemort wrote: ↑26 Dec 2025 21:41 pmLouie, I want to believe this. I've been as disappointed as you in the poor development but now we have a system, in place for two years, that should rectify that problem.

Sorry, it seemed like he was speaking to the impact on the “roster” i.e. the big league roster, if Baez could play CF.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑27 Dec 2025 00:11 amThe conversation is about the cardinals farm system Mitchell is part of the cardinals system why wouldn’t he have any business being a part of the conversation about the cardinals farm system when he’s their 12th best prospectAn Old Friend wrote: ↑26 Dec 2025 22:36 pmMitchell best case is probably like 2029-2030. Just think about the idea of a tall, fast, athletic centerfielder who is also a 30-30 caliber offensive performer.billybaseball wrote: ↑26 Dec 2025 08:38 amIt's reassuring to see experts talk about him. Heard a lot in the last month about how the changes he made were very real and his stats were in no way a fluke. If he keeps it up in AAA this year he'll easily be a top 50 or better prospect in baseball. Will be interested to see where tgey play Baez. If Chase Davis stays in AA maybe Baez gets an extended look in CF? He definitely has the speed for it.ramfandan wrote: ↑26 Dec 2025 08:29 amYes, they like Josh Baez very much. In this video they give their most improved farm systems and most improved prospects. The Cardinals were number 1 and they had Joshua Baez as their most improved prospect.

Surprised you didn't know that.

Same w/me, watching as much video as I can find and the kid's a natural born hitter who uses the entire field w/no loss of power going the other way.
I've seen some fielding video and (IMO having played the position) he's going to be an above average fielding 2nd baseman.
We share the same feelings, disappointment the last couple seasons but excited at the same time to see what the "new blood" can do both in the front office & on the field!

Fingers crossed on Baez and I’m hoping for him to build on 2025.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑26 Dec 2025 20:33 pmBaez must really pass the eye test because a 22-year-old with an .890 OPS during his first AA stint is okay, but it's not a stat line that screams future All-Star. Would be nice if the scouts finally got it right for the Cards on this one.Cusecards wrote: ↑26 Dec 2025 18:15 pm I’m psyched to see if Josh Baez can build on last season.
He has the physical tools to be an impact OF which we desperately need.
Bloom has already made a number of moves in the area of pitching. More of course could follow.
But the OF makeup over 2026 could go in a number of directions:
*Donovan?- Is he dealt? If not does he get pushed to LF?
*Nootbaar?- Health as usual? He could certainly be dealt?
*Scott?- Inside track for CF. Has the speed and defense. Can he hit the ball on the ground?
*Walker?- Make or break year? He could emerge or he could continue to struggle and his time could be running out?
*Herrera?- I don’t see him sticking at Catcher? LF in his future??
*Burleson?- Figures to be at 1B?? But???
Then when you factor in another trade or someone emerging from the system(Baez?) buckle up!
I'm still hoping a Nado/Donovan combo can net a big return but I guess it's more likely those two are dealt separately.
No way I’m suggesting he is a factor early on.
Lots of ifs but also some nice potential all around.

2024 in Palm Beach

2025. Memphis
Ben Johnson is the manager of the Memphis Redbirds, having returned for his seventh season in 2025. Patrick Anderson will take the helm at Springfield (AA) after managing the three previous seasons in Peoria, replacing former skipper José Leger, who will now serve as Assistant Field & Baserunning Coordinator based in Jupiter.
His key changes include:
Expanded Staff: Bloom has significantly increased the number of coaches and support personnel throughout the minor league system. This includes adding specific director roles, such as a director of pitching (Matt Pierpont) and a director of hitting (Dalton Hurd), along with their respective support staffs.
Modernized Technology and Analytics: He has emphasized the leveraging of information and innovation, bringing the organization up to modern industry standards in the use of data and equipment for player evaluation and development.
Enhanced Physical Training and Sports Medicine: The system now places a greater emphasis on combining performance and medical aspects, including improved physical training and sports medicine practices to help players stay healthy and perform optimally.
Facilities Upgrades: The organization has committed to upgrading its facilities, including an overhaul of the spring training complex in Jupiter, Florida, and improvements to the academy in the Dominican Republic.
Shift in Scouting and Drafting Philosophy: There has been a noticeable shift in the amateur draft, with the Cardinals now prioritizing different types of players, such as pitchers with high velocity and "swing-and-miss" stuff, which was not the case under the previous regime.
Individualized Development Plans: The renewed system focuses on individual development plans for prospects, aiming to provide all necessary resources for success at the Major League level.
JJW (two full years under Bloom's revamped minor league system) and every other young player in the system has benefited from these since 2024.
JJW will be the first true graduate under Bloom's full system.

The drafts have been Mo's the last 2 years...they scream "Mo Drafts"...."pick a topic, and draft only that topic"....2025 was "power pitchers and Swing and Miss Offense"....2024 was "I take walks at the plate"....2023 was a scattered mess, but found a gem or two....2022 was "LHP pitchers"....2021 was "Control, Control, Control RHP" .
"Shift in Scouting and Draft Philosophy"...total made up [nonsense]. We still have the same scouting and draft directors....still doing the same shizz job.
Chaim has brought expanded affiliate staff, modern technologies at Springfield and RogerDean....
Calm your jets...stop giving him credit for stuff he hasn't done, if you insist on giving him credit for 2025, then he has to take the blame, too..... JJ and Doyle fell into our laps, any idiot with a brain could draft those 2 that high....hell, he shouldn't have drafted Doyle with Hernandez and Parker available....but I digress....the rest of the draft in 2025 minus the possibility of Franklin and the Stetson Kid looks like a complete Shizz Show.

I've been as disappointed as you in the poor development but now we have a system, in place for two years, that should rectify that problem.
JJW will be the first graduate and I'm really excited to see how he does this coming season in St. Louis.
He came in AFTER C. Bloom (who started to revamp the minor league system in 2024) had already put his minor league player development system in place and kept adding to it in 2025 meaning JJW has had two season under Bloom's minor league system since he joined the organization.
Surprised you didn't know that.
2024 in Palm Beach
The 2024 manager of the Palm Beach Cardinals is Gary Kendall. He will be returning for his third year with the team, leading them in the Florida State League. Kendall has a rich history in minor league baseball, having spent 17 seasons in the Baltimore Orioles farm system before joining the Cardinals organization.
2025. Memphis
Ben Johnson is the manager of the Memphis Redbirds, having returned for his seventh season in 2025. He has achieved significant milestones, including becoming the winningest manager in Memphis Redbirds history, with 368 wins, and leading the team to an 80-68 record during the 2025 season. Johnson, a Memphis native, has a strong connection to the community and has been instrumental in developing future stars for the St. Louis Cardinals.
2025 Springfield
JJW will be the first true graduate under Bloom's full system.![]()

Calm your jets...stop giving him credit for stuff he hasn't done..... JJ and Doyle fell into our laps, any idiot with a brain could draft those 2 that high....hell, he shouldn't have drafted Doyle with Hernandez and Parker available....but I digress....the rest of the draft in 2025 minus the possibility of Franklin and the Stetson Kid looks like a complete Shizz Show
The good news "V" is that past history was under Mo's mismanagement!
