Re: Quick hook on Binnington
I totally soured on Binner in his postcovid slide criticizing armey mightily for signing him longterm to his 6 mil aav forever. However i have come around and realize that given his body and level of work he has been an asset especially when you look at conparables around the league. We were in the wasteland as far as goalies go for so long until 2019. Having said that I do think there is going to be a change in stance (both by management and binner himself) after the olympics and sooner if by some chance armey doesnt pick him for the squad. If things go as they are, I think there will be a mutual parting of ways and he might be quite the hot commodity if he plays and recreates 4 Nations play in Italy. Just for the love of God no stuart skinner in any way, shape or form.

Goaltending sucks, offense sucks, team D sucks, heart and soul sucks, coaching sucks, GM sucks...you gotta start somewhere why not by trading Binnington? NOTHING about this team shows me that can reel off consecutive wins enough to not only make the playoffs, but actually make a playoff run. If you can't do this, why keep it together? Start with Binnington...I'd say start with Army, but that will NEVER happen for some reason, so start with Binnington.

As we all witnessed first hand, everyone reacted differently - and had differenet "levels" of Covid. He never looked right just before or after he went out. Didn't really get going until the playoffs. I'll always cast it as an outlier. He's proven that he is a "money" goalie. And when you get deep into his history, he always has been able to dial it in when the lights are brightest.IsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑03 Dec 2025 13:46 pm I totally soured on Binner in his postcovid slide criticizing armey mightily for signing him longterm to his 6 mil aav forever. Agree. He is money. The problem is the apparent dearth of money situations for this team in the near future. He has been the good soldier - maybe gratitude for the 6×6 from Armey or the fact that he is the TC gm- that is all going to end though. Totally see an exit scenario after the Olympics and a landing spot in Carolina.bud white wrote: ↑03 Dec 2025 16:09 pmAs we all witnessed first hand, everyone reacted differently - and had differenet "levels" of Covid. You two plus BobbyOrr and DawgDad above are right on. They are pros, they are passionate, they understand each other...they will move on.11WSChamps wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 08:34 amNothing to see here.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025 08:19 am Nothing to see here. They love each other.
“You know, I love Jordan Binnington,” Montgomery said after the eventual 4-1 loss to the Ducks. “He’s a competitor. He raises his games in the big moments all the time. I love him. He walked off the ice, he said, ‘I love you!’ I said, ‘I love you, too!’
“We’re both competitors, and at the end of the period, he waited for me, we apologized and we moved on. It’s over and done with.”
Like coach said both guys are passionate and with a rough road trip coming up this last game of the homestead to get to .500 was important.
It won't be the last time coach and player are at odds.
I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for it to be any other way.
That second goal was bad.
And Hofer actually played real well after coming in cold.

Always thought Binner played best with a chip on his shoulder. Like getting called up after toiling in the minors, losing his job to Husso then being absolute fire in the playoffs, and the 5 nations when everyone was doubting him. Without that chip to motivate him, he seems to flounder. He needs to tell himself that every game is Game 7 and that everyone is doubting him.IsDurbanodoingtime wrote: ↑03 Dec 2025 20:33 pmAgree.
