Spot on

Scott Galloway/NYU Professor even wrote a book about it, Notes on Being a Man.

Key points included:

Social Isolation: Galloway criticized "Big Tech's role in isolating young men" and the "disaster" of working from home for young men who need "guardrails" and in-person social interaction.

Dating and Rejection: He discussed the difficulties of modern dating, particularly for men, and the importance of enduring rejection. Galloway noted that many young men are "scared" to date and fail to approach women, who still largely expect men to initiate.

Lifestyle Choices: Galloway controversially suggested that drinking alcohol in moderation as a "lubricant" for socializing might be better than remaining in isolation in the basement. Galloway urged young men to "get out of the f---ing basement, get off your phone," take risks, and pursue relationships (both romantic and platonic).

Role Models: He also touched upon the lack of positive male role models and the need for young men to find purpose through paternal and fraternal love, even outside of traditional family structures

Why do you think that is? I'm 41 and i think i'm one of the younger ones on here

possibilities:
-the younger crowd consumes their info more with apps, podcasts?
-Baseball doesn't quite draw in the younger generations like the NFL, NBA does? MLB doesn't seem as cool to them?

your thoughts
That's easy.

We grew up listening, playing and dreaming about being a Major League player. Many of us older people played baseball every day the weather permitted'. Many of us played "Indian ball" and situation baseball where we made up situations and had to make the play for the situation. We played "Little League", Khoury League and played on traveling teams and High School teams and many went on to play in college. It was a game we loved and still love.

Because they have the time and/or autonomy to do so?

It is also a generational thing, in that those of us who are older tend to write paragraphs. Younger folks are more into the 200 character limits of modern quick social media. It is what they grew up with. We grew up with pencils and paper and letters. Then we got email, which was essentially an instant letter, but still had form and structure, at least at the beginning. I have two son-in-laws, both under 30, who are fine young men. They both will make excellent dads when the time comes. I am not going to condemn the whole younger generation. They have been exposed to different sorts of communication forms their whole lives. My 2 cents.....
Well put.

Saying this as the 39 year old that posts from work a lot

They don’t need to talk face to face. It’s not even the process anymore. All they need to do is upload a profile to a dating app and while they’re playing video games, their romantic fates are determined by left/right swipes. If they are attractive, or more importantly, have a strong social media presence, they successfully automate getting laid.

Retired? What's that?
No kidding.
That seems to me to be a quick way to check out.
I'm 71, run two organizations and a national campaign. And still find time for this.

your thoughts
1) baseball (and Blues hockey for that matter) don't draw as much fanbase analysis and interaction from younger people
2) the stltoday.com forums' format has become borderline archaic. Younger crowds stick to the more contemporary outlets
3) There's about 3-5 trolls (especially on the Blues side) who are basically carmudgeon annihilators

It is really pretty simple. The older generation was fans long before message boards came along. They jumped into participation on message boards and have not left. Younger fans have social media and their "inner circle" to discuss things that they are interested in.

me too, all i did my entire life was play baseball until my arm gave out at 26 ish. played all the way through a college scholarship and a little after. Now i'd probably top out at a brisk 67mph lol
