Not unless they move Bohm in a trade first. 1B is blocked now by Harper. Furthermore Philly hasn’t had a defense first approach on any player in a long time. Will take a change in philosophy to want defense only

I disagreed with you at first, but I'm coming around.
Why AZ? They are in a rebuild like the Cardinals. Sitting Lawler would be idiotic. He’s not going back to AAA
They already sat him in 2025.
And then sent him back to AAA.
Really unhappy with his glove and his decision making
And run prevention is their stated #1 goal for 2026, since they have had a top 5 offense for the past couple of years.
Worth noting that offense is heavy on LH hitters.
STL won't give much for N/A and Dewitt will be forced to eat money no matter where he is shipped.
But zero question he fits perfectly with what AZ is trying to do and zero question N/A would report there if traded.

Yea well he was a top 5 pick and a top 5 overall prospect. I don’t think they give up on him at 23. He’s a better prospect than Walker. Arenado would have to be willing to help him and be a part time player. Lawler is 10x better than Gorman and if Arenado stays here they would have a time split this year

Would a slight change in philosophy hurt?

I don't see NA in Philly, I think that they aim higher, even the rumor of Tatis being available
has a certain fit. Castellanos and Bohm together make Tatis money.

LAA makes some sense for NA along with Mels AZ.

Mets favorites for Bregman currently. That’s my point. Only so many spots with 3-4(if Bichette moves to 3B) better options than trading for Arenado

Understood.

It is also a market for the Cardinals to attempt to avoid even if NA was a little
more in demand. Those teams that spend in the upper reaches will only knock on the
NA door when other options are gone. NA needs to go where he IS an upgrade on
D to a team without unlimited money. There's a few of those, including AZ and LAA.

Agree.

The Cards just can't wait on the bigger choices unless
by some miracle if plays out faster than the normal.

They might want a different Cardinal more though
which could be good.

Actually, Seattle is tight. They need a RF and want to re-sign Josh Naylor among other things. Eating salary for a big league glove and not giving up anyone of note to do it is just what they need to do. They are definitely out on Bregman, a maybe on Murakami.

Do some reading about Lawler, the D'Backs, and 2026.
No, they have no intention of giving u on him
But no, they were not happy with him in 2025 and are not convinced he is ready to be handed the 3b job.
In fact, they turned to Blaze Alexander and were likewise unconvinced.
They are, in fact, looking for a short term solution.
Also, in trading Suarez and Naylor, they lost a lot of veteran presence in the clubhouse.
As a very young team, they are concerned about that as well
Bottom line: there is no better fit in MLB for N/A.

Mariners are trying to re sign Suarez
Tigers Colt is a top prospect
Phillies Bohn is better and cheaper
Rangers Jung is a stud when healthy
Diamondbacks Lawler is a top 5 MLb prospect

Even if they do move on why Arenado over those FA? I just don’t see a market for Arenado at all
Dont kid yourself. There's always a market for the best defensive 3b in the league, especially if the Cardinals take on some of the $$$.

Not if he can’t hit. Defensive only players make $5m per year

Everyone hits better in Arizona than at Busch Stadium.
